I firmly believe that it is most important to create authentic connections with clients. Real healing only happens when both the client and the counselor can be their real selves. I work to create within therapy a genuine and safe space that is not always easy to find out in the world. I hope to help clients learn to create these safe places for themselves through improved life and relationship skills. My goals are the client’s goals as my client-centered approach leads me to seek a better understanding of the client’s worldview and how it interplays with their daily tasks and interactions with others.

I am a lifelong learner and I believe that the various difficulties we face as people are opportunities to learn, heal, and grow. In my counseling, I assist clients as they orient themselves to their situation and work alongside them to establish a path towards wellness. I may advise clients to complete inventories or seek medical treatment to facilitate their work and progress. I will approach individuals' religious/cultural differences and perspectives with curiosity and sensitivity. During counseling I may use Restoration Therapy, DBT skills, or EMDR to help clients.

Usually, these are interpersonal traumas where the caregivers unintentionally or intentionally fail to provide secure attachment, safety, and validation which can wire the developing brain mainly for survival rather than for trust in relationships.

My goal is to support you on your journey toward mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Through counseling, clients can explore their current life situation and begin to deal effectively with the circumstances they are facing in a safe environment. Counseling can also provide tools for change, but even more, it can be a springboard to begin identifying some of the factors that have led to the current situation.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor providing therapeutic services at Atascocita Counseling Associates to children, adolescents, and adults through individual and family counseling. I believe in meeting clients where they are and working collaboratively with individuals and families to empower clients to be the best version of themselves. I have over 15 years of experience working with individuals and families within child welfare and juvenile probation agencies, as well as private practice.
