Fueled by hope, which is the belief that things will get better, I decided to focus on doing what it took to change my life. My road to hope helped me see and pursue solutions that were hidden behind a thick fog of despair due to growing up in a dysfunctional home. One thing I tell others is “you cannot give to others what you haven’t been taught”. My parents lack the hope to break the cycle of dysfunction of their past family upbringing. I believe my parents forgot they had a choice to change things.
