Dr. Buckner is a recognized authority on the causes and cures of painful encounters between intimate partners. During her 30+ year history in private practice as a clinical psychologist specializing in relationship issues, she also trained relationship therapists worldwide, enjoyed media exposure (including The Oprah Winfrey Show),and authored the book "Making Real Love Happen--The New ERA of Intimacy." Simply said, she helps people develop relationships they love. This work is quite different than the stereotypic "marriage counseling." To discover the underlying issues that feed conflict and learn how to develop the behaviors that will create "love" require new learning.

Are you seeking a sense of belonging and a connection to yourself? Are you so burnt out, you don't recognize your dreams anymore? My ideal client is ready to end the war with themselves and embrace their metamorphosis. I adore working with the girls, gays, and theys (lgbtqia+ community) on gender and sexuality discovery, as well as navigating life as a queer person. This is someone who needs a space to process, grieve, and celebrate their queerness as they learn to embrace themselves. My practice focuses on folks struggling with trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and codependency. Are you ready for transformation?

As the world continues to change and evolve, we are all faced with the challenge of how to cope with the effects of said change. Since we are all unique in our experiences, our stories are written in a voice as unique as we are. Our stories continue to be written and rewritten with each and every experience that comes our way. While our stories are being written, we deserve a space to process the experiences and challenges, that come our way.

Well hello, and welcome to step one of the therapeutic process - finding a therapist. Take a deep breath, and trust your gut. In our work, our goal is to enable clients to live in the here-and-now, take notice of their own experiences, and harness the power that already resides inside in order to create change and live happier, healthier lives. Reviive believes life is about two things: loving and learning, and through our work together clients will be encouraged to reveal and learn from what was or has been, in order to heal and love what is.

My experience includes working closely with professionals, including law enforcement and CPS, to provide justice and healing to children and teens who have experienced abuse. I am truly passionate about counseling children, adolescents, and teenagers to help them find their voice and empower them to take charge of their own healing. Along with teens and children, I have extensive experience working with couples and families. I believe families and couples function as systems and can work through most issues by focusing on identifying destructive patterns, working on their communication and understanding towards each other.

Utilizing an eclectic style of counseling, I hold nonjudgmental, supportive, and empowering spaces for clients in an effort to meet them where they are. My goal is to walk alongside clients as they navigate their therapeutic journeys, offering reflections and coping strategies as appropriate. I believe that all clients are the experts of their own lives and innately possess the ability to positively influence their personal narratives. I have a special passion for grief and loss work, acknowledging that often it is a trauma that will continue to influence individuals over the entirety of their lives.

I'm a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and I've been working in mental health for 10 years. During this time I've worked with individuals and couples in private practice, as well as pediatrics, teens and adults in a hospital setting. The social injustices of the world initially drew me to the field of social work, and along this path I found my calling for working closely with people who've experienced complex trauma & adversity. I use trauma focused modalities in correlation with mindfulness practices, movement/nutrition, artistic expression, and an eclectic approach tailored to each individual's unique human experience.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
