Each woman is unique with her own needs so we will work on the things you need for your relationship and yourself.
Are you a woman hurting from marital infidelity, including a husband or partner’s pornography usage? Do past hurts have you stuck and you are not able to live the abundant life you desire? This type of betrayal is painful to your heart. Your emotions are up and down from denial, anger, revenge, anxiety or just numb. You may feel as you are unsure how to move forward day to day.

Hey you. Yes, you! Have you ever had thoughts of being “stuck” thinking “what is the point” or even just struggling to get out of bed each day? Well, I know I have, as a survivor of a traumatic accident that resulted in life long physical limitations, I went through these same thoughts often. I believe that sometimes life gets the best of us, and we get stuck in unhealthy patterns, from depression, anxiety, trauma, or anything else you may have going on. I would love to help guide you through this difficult part of your life as you learn about yourself and process through your difficult situations.

If you are here you might be feeling lost in your faith community. Or maybe you are questioning what you’ve been taught at church, feeling heartbroken that you aren’t accepted as you are, or unable to live up the expectations of your community. Are you struggling with grappling with faith and your authentic identity, or feeling betrayed because what you thought was a safe place of love and connection has now become a place where you are feeling judged or alienated? Are you angry, grieving, or struggling with the bigger questions in life? Or maybe you are struggling with a mental health issue that you found impossible to pray away.

I enjoy working with adults and teens to overcome anxiety, frustration, depression, and relationship concerns. It is fairly typical for all of us to struggle at times with setbacks and disappointments. My goal is to help you identify and work on the unhelpful parts of your life so that you can improve, eliminate symptoms, and lead a more fulfilling life. Together we can create an environment that not only nurtures personal responsibility, success, and growth but also fits your personality, interests, skills, and preferences. I have personally witnessed the rapid progress that individuals can make during therapy.

Need to talk? Trouble sleeping? Can't seem to relax? Feeling "not good enough?" Sometimes, you might feel overwhelmed and unprepared to meet the goals you have set for yourself, or perhaps you are feeling aimless in pursuing a better life. Maybe you have been told that you are not living up to your potential, or it seems like everyone else "has it together" and you feel lost.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
