You're really going through it. You've been stuck in a vicious loop of anxiety, low self esteem, stress, bad relationships, & trauma and PTSD. You can't sleep because your mind is on overdrive, yet your body is exhausted from holding awful tension. You've been unhappy and overwhelmed for too long. People take advantage of your big heart, and it's really not fair. You've struggled with boundaries because duh - we all want to be liked. Codependency feels right when things are good yet devastating when things are bad. Honestly, your power has been taken from you. I know it seems like things will never get better, but I got you.

What drew me to the counseling field was my passion to advocate for people who have experience trauma (relational, spiritual, physical, sexual, emotional, and more). I take an integrative approach, meeting you wherever you are in the process and tailoring treatment based on my extensive training in trauma modalities. I cherish this process and helping survivors heal. As a mother of two, I have plenty of material to pull from and am equally passionate about working with parents, especially those who are facing parenting transitions and blended families. With support, validation and humor, I can help make parenting fun again.

My passion is working with clients who crave more fulfillment and balance in their personal and professional lives as well as helping couples who feel disconnected, dissatisfied or discouraged. I help individuals and couples learn to be more relational while exploring different ways of navigating challenges by utilizing skills that are practical, accessible, effective and sustainable. It often feels easier to stay stuck than to push ourselves into greater levels of growth and connection. My goal is to help clients overcome "feeling stuck" in order to build closer, more secure relationships and lead meaningful, fulfilling lives.

Are you ready to be more vulnerable but aren’t sure where to start? Have you found yourself struggling to share honestly with those around you? Or maybe you’ve tried sharing more of yourself with others, but you aren’t sure where you belong or if others will accept you? Our families can have a big impact on how we show up in our adult relationships. Cultural messages often impact how safe we feel to be fully ourselves. Shame and guilt can hold us back from experiencing intimacy and connection with ourselves and others. Together we will help you heal from any past wounds so you can feel more aligned in the present.

Living on this giant blue marble isn't easy. You learn how to cope then suddenly it stops working. You try to adapt and change, but life keeps throwing problems at you and it's a nightmare keeping all together. It's overwhelming, stressful, and sometimes you just need someone to truly hear you. I hope to provide that space of stillness; that place where you can take a deep breath and say what you really feel without fear of judgement. If that sounds like something you need, feel free to contact me anytime.

As an Art Therapist and Counselor I am passionate about providing a safe and creative space for the session. It can be daunting to start the process of getting help, although, art making in therapy can help ease this transition. You do not need art experience to benefit from the healing art therapy offers. I graduated from Antioch University Seattle with a Master’s of Arts in Counseling and Art Therapy. While a graduate student at Antioch I completed my practicum leading Art Therapy groups for incarcerated women and survivors of domestic violence.

Feminist Therapists

How does feminist therapy work?

Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.

What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?

Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.

How long does feminist therapy last?

As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.

Does feminist therapy work?

As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
