I have spent the past twenty-eight years in the education world as a teacher, principal, testing coordinator, and mental health counselor, and I sincerely hold the belief that we are all in this together to support and lead each other. My background is certainly a benefit to building a therapeutic relationship with clients of all ages, and this relationship is what has drawn me to mental health counseling.

I see a variety of clients who present with various issues/concerns/upsets, who are in distress and need help to see them through. It can be difficult to trust someone with personal issues, but after taking that first step, my clients generally feel comfortable with me, are forthcoming, and begin to feel hopeful again. Length of treatment varies depending on needs/issues, and I see both short-term and long-term clients/patients.

Strength is seen when we reach out to others for help, and I commend you for taking that step. The story of your life will lead you through many ups and downs. Sometimes, you get stuck in a low spot and cannot find a way out. At other times, a chapter ends, and you struggle to turn the page and begin the next adventure. Maybe a dark moment lives in your past but refuses to stay there. Perhaps you are a parent watching your child struggle with their own story, wishing you could just swoop in and save the day. As a former High School English teacher, I have always known the power of stories. As a counselor, my goal is to empower my clients to take control of their story and write a more hopeful future.

My counseling approach is person-centered using an eclectic position (i.e. I do not rigidly stick to one specific approach). Since each individual has their own unique experiences, I believe that it is in the best interest of the client to take into consideration an approach that will best fit their desired goals. I counsel teenagers, adults, couples, families, and military members, addressing experiences in all areas, including abuse, anxiety, depression, grief, life transitions, moral injury, relationships, stress, and trauma.

Addiction is one of the toughest things anyone can face. It can be overwhelming, exhausting, and lead to lifelong consequences if left untreated. However, the truth is: We DO recover, and I do mean WE. My professional knowledge comes from a masters degree in addiction psychology, and my practical experience comes from my own journey of addiction and recovery.

I applaud you, the first steps in seeking help can be really tough, and you did it! I worked with a variety of clients where I saw depression, anxiety, trauma, and abandonment. Together we worked to find healthy coping skills, and ways to express our emotions healthfully. Each step you want to make, I will be right there with you. Navigating through those emotions that arise can be hard, but it can be possible. I look forward to hearing from you as you start your journey.

My hope is to offer a space for people to experience life changing therapy where mind, body, and soul meet.
