My approach to counseling assumes that everyone suffers in some way or another, and that our lives are in a constant state of flux. Everything changes on its own at some point, but we can learn to steer change in a way that benefits us and those around us by better understanding how we respond to suffering. When we are able to be aware and accepting of our own suffering, we become less reactive, less defensive, and we can begin to act in ways that are in alignment with our deeper values instead of clinging on to fleeting pleasures or avoiding discomfort. This shift allows us to act purposefully, turning obstacles into opportunities
Therapy with me will focus on shifting perceptions of problems so that the problem becomes an opportunity for growth, connection, purposeful action. We also learn to let go of preconceived notions about who we are and how we think life should be. Learning to let go in this way allows us to gain the clarity, wisdom, and freedom needed to grow and connect.
