I use a collaborative, client-centered, strengths-based, trauma-informed approach to help clients achieve goals related to living a healthy, satisfying life. I have a particular interest in working with trauma, including single incidents, recurring events, relational dynamics, and other types of distressing or disturbing events that can overwhelm our nervous system and impact our ability to experience well-being. I also work with a variety of other concerns including anxiety, depression, and life transitions.

I integrate mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment-based therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and trauma focused methods.
Each of us have deep-seeded value and deserve to be connected to our whole selves. Often, past experiences of trauma and suffering not only impact our beliefs, behaviors, and relationships, but disconnect us from ourselves. Discovering ourselves can be difficult, but it is an essential part of healing. Our capacity for growth and change is possible with understanding and compassion.

If you are a human being who is struggling with "human stuff" I might be the therapist for you. I have been practicing for over 15 years and I am very interested in finding solutions that work for my patients as opposed to a "one size fits all approach". I have a strong background treating depression, anxiety, complex traumas, neuro-diverse individuals, and folks struggling with substance use disorders.

Part of being human means that most of us will inevitably struggle at some point in our lives. It is common to seek support and guidance to help navigate through difficult times. Finding a therapist who feels like "the right fit" can be challenging, as it is important to find someone you trust and who is knowledgeable about what has prompted you to seek help. My treatment approach is grounded in compassionately understanding client's unique life history and experiences. I highly value authenticity and flexibility; and my goal is to build a collaborative relationship so that we can tailor therapy to address your needs.

Through connection, authenticity, and presence in the here and now we can begin to create more spaciousness in our experience, bit by bit. Whatever brings you to this search, know that you don't have to face it alone. I draw on a variety of approaches such as somatic awareness, mindfulness, attachment, and parts work. I believe we are all doing the best we can with what we have. Sometimes what we have is deep pain, buried (or very alive) trauma, and a sense that we are failing. What gets forgotten is all the strength that has gotten us as far as we are! In my work with clients, we work to discover what is driving the choices we make and intentionally discover healing and strength. We empower through choice, acceptance, and self-compassion. I believe when we transform what we have, we move to something better. My primary experience is working with trauma, survivors of domestic violence, assault, and childhood abuse.

Timing is everything! If you are reading this, chances are that now is the time. Being real, raw, and vulnerable isn't easy but it's absolutely worth it. I work to create an environment that allows for careful examination and reflection while being mindful of where each person is and where they would like to be. It is possible to live a life of acceptance and gratitude which allows you to grow and move through life's greatest challenges. I have worked in the social work field for over 20 years and I love it! I've worked with people from very diverse walks of life and in all age groups. No kidding, birth - 101 years old!

It is not unusual to have times in our lives that feel challenging, confusing, or chaotic. When we meet life struggles, it is essential to feel safe and supported. If you are seeking a neutral, nonjudgmental space to explore your distress, we can work together to develop the insight and skills that will support who you are and who you want to be. I am particularly experienced at working with adults who are processing grief and loss. The grieving experience is universal, yet every loss is unique, grieved in its own way and in its own time. It can be helpful to have compassionate companionship and an experienced guide on that journey.

I fundamentally believe in your innate capacity to understand yourself better than anyone else. My goal is to cultivate a therapeutic setting that is affirming, empathetic, and validating, echoing the words of Carl Rogers: “It is the client who knows what hurts, what directions to go, what problems are crucial, and what experiences have been deeply buried.”
