Depression, anxiety, or trauma can stop you from enjoying your day-to-day life! It is not easy dealing with all the thoughts and emotions that are always stirred up. My hope is that together we can work to find balance and peace in your life. We cannot change the past but we can change how we think, cope and manage it today! Many struggle alone unable to truly move forward and find that freedom of internal happiness. Give me a call and together we can find your happy place!

New skills will be taught, and individuals are encouraged to take responsibility for their actions.

I have experience providing both brief and long-term counseling for a wide variety of issues including anxiety, depression, schizophrenia, substance and alcohol use, relationship stress, trauma and PTSD, and more.
Counseling is a voluntary and collaborative process. This requires that you be actively involved and willing to set and work toward specific goals. Counseling is a tool that individuals can use to deal with problems in a way that is best for that individual. Your counselor cannot “fix,” “cure,” or “heal” you in any way. However, unconditional acceptance, listening and understanding, professional expertise, and honest communication can help you reach your goals to achieving a happier, healthier life!

I have also been afforded the opportunity to treat diagnosis including: depression, bipolar disorder, mood disorder, TBI, schizophrenia, PTSD, and ADD.
I am honored to be of service to you. I know that trauma and substance abuse and addiction can wreak havoc in one's life. Many of client's find themselves faced with challenges of having to restart their lives during mental challenges and addiction; some may have to fight to regain custody of their children; many of them have co-occurring mental illness that has lead to substance abuse and/or addiction. For some, addiction comes by way of biological, environmental, and social influences, but from my experience, I have learned that mental illness was present before addiction became a factor. Take Control Today!

My focus is family preservation, however, I do handle more specific needs such as depression, anxiety, extensive trauma care, ADHD, systems work, behavioral concerns, and women's/men's health.
I've practiced in mental health for more than 15 years and I still have the same passion I did when I started. I trust that part of the reason that I remain committed to this work is because I practice what I preach. I constantly have to remind myself that I can do hard things and I wake up every day manifesting my purpose. The most rewarding part of my job is watching you grow into the person you've set out to be. I pride myself on true social work values; which include integrity, ethical practices, and quality services. I have specialized certification and training in trauma and a long work history in family systems therapy.

It is my belief that within each of us, the mind, body, and spirit work in unison to maintain a sense of balance and wellness. However, there are times when we may encounter challenges and unanticipated events that may cause a disturbance in these areas, which may be evidenced by undesirable thoughts, feelings or behaviors. I have the required training, licensure and experience to practice individual, group, and marriage/family counseling with all age groups encompassing a general range of presenting problems/concerns.

I use a blend of trauma-informed modalities, including CBT, motivational interviewing, and narrative therapy, to help clients navigate their experiences.
I love working with clients who have experienced trauma—whether it’s big t or little t—who are ready to process those events and reclaim control over their lives. It’s empowering to acknowledge the challenges we’ve faced and to leverage the skills we’ve gained from those experiences. While I have a background of working with first responders, I’m open to, and enjoy, working with adults (18+) of various backgrounds who are looking for a supportive partner in their mental wellness journey.

I practice Person-Centered Therapy with inclusive elements of Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Narrative, Gestalt, and Experiential Family Therapies.
People who seek help through the stresses and traumas of life instead of succumbing to them are the bravest people I know. Although therapy may not feel courageous, at some point, we all need the presence and compassionate care of someone committed to our healing process. This is my passion. I work with courageous people who choose to move toward wholeness while continuing to live and care for the responsibilities of their lives. A large part of my work is devoted to helping men and women work through traumatic experiences in the present and those remembered from the past.

This complementary approach can further promote balance and healing, especially for those experiencing chronic pain linked to stress and trauma.
I'm a therapist with a focus on helping people find relief from anxiety, stress, PTSD, and trauma. I use a unique method called Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) to achieve this. NET helps address underlying anxieties and traumas held within your mind and body, and it often provides lasting relief in as few as one session. This is a stark contrast to traditional talk therapy, which can be time-consuming, expensive, and slow-moving. As a licensed acupuncturist and the leading NET provider in the area, I'm committed to helping you find resolution quickly. My goal is to completely address your concerns in 5 sessions or less.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
