I am an independent contractor working with Neuro Harmony, LLC. I most enjoy working with folks struggling with trauma, ADD, BPD, NDE's, and who consider themselves "quirky" or "misfits." Often they are simply seeking validation - reassurance that they are not actually "crazy" - and have the curiosity, sense of humor and resilience needed to undertake existential adventures. Like most of us, what they are basically seeking is contentment and peace of mind.

I endeavor to create a safe emotional space for clients to process negative feelings and past trauma, address root causes of their issues, and develop coping mechanisms and tools to feel well.
Do you find yourself stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, addictive or self-destructive behaviors, or negative thought loops? Struggle with feeling hopeless, worthless, furious, anxious, or just numb? Do you ever wonder WHY you feel the way that you feel? Together we can explore how your past informs your present, how your nervous system has been primed to react, and the messages that operate beneath the surface. I seek to help my clients feel deeply understood and worthy, but don't take myself too seriously and am well-acquainted with the funny side of life.

Grief, loss, and trauma can have a profound and lasting impact on you or people you love. You may feel isolated from others and overwhelmed as you try to go about day-to-day tasks; you may struggle to feel safe, express your emotions, or understand how to make meaning from all that has happened. Other people might be telling you to “get over” it, as if grief has a deadline you haven’t met. Traumatic events from your past may bring up feelings of inadequacy, anxiety, or shame, which can prevent you from doing the things you want to do, affect your relationships, and make it hard to communicate or set healthy boundaries with others.

I work with anxiety, trauma, relationship problems, self-esteem, family-of-origin concerns, adoption, and more.
Has your life taken an unexpected detour? Maybe it's a chaotic relationship, unrelating anxiety or navigating difficult family dynamics. Whatever your struggles might be, fighting these battles on your own can be difficult, painful and sometimes overwhelming. However, there is an incredible amount of power in a strong therapeutic relationship where you can process life with someone who desires to fully understand you with a lens of compassion and empathy.

With advanced training in trauma, attachment, Polyvagal, Internal Family Systems, and EMDR, I integrate several approaches to best fit each client's needs.
Overwhelmed. Things did not go the way you hoped, and now you are left feeling stuck, disconnected from yourself and others. Or perhaps you can’t pinpoint what went wrong, but you find yourself constantly on edge, your mind racing and jaw clenched. You sense that you were made to live more fully than this but can't seem to find your way.

I use an integrative combination of brain and body-based methods (CBT, Trauma Informed Care, and Mindfulness) that research has shown to be effective.
I provide a warm, nurturing, collaborative environment to foster healthy emotional functioning and growth. My goal is to assist you in creating a healthier sense of self. Through my experience, I have come to learn that counseling is most beneficial when possibilities of hope, healing, and action are developed through meaningful conversations. My focus is on helping clients manage their distressful symptoms, identify learned patterns and unhelpful ways of thinking, rewire their brains, reprocess trauma, and access their strengths to use as leverage to work through their upsetting events, fears, anxiety, and blindspots.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
