My passion in counseling is to create a relationship built on safety, trust, and hope, where people feel accepted and challenged to grow in new and meaningful ways. I consider it a privilege to be able to walk with someone through their fears and hurts, and help them to experience healing and restoration. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and a certified clinical supervisor. Much of my work involves working with a diverse population in a state psychiatric hospital setting I currently provide academic instruction for graduate students at both Rutgers University School of Social Work and Aurora University.
I have volunteered as a crisis counselor during Hurricane Sandy, the Haitian Earthquake and during the current Covid -19 Pandemic. I have worked with a diverse group of clients and is highly experienced working with depression, anxiety, relationship issues, ADHD, Bipolar Disorder, retirement planning , stress and anger management
My counseling style is supportive, strength-based and rooted in a systems-thinking approach. I believe in the dignity and worth of each person, and that the human spirit is quite resilient. As Maya Angelou once said, “I strongly believe that you may not control all the events that happen to you, but you can decide not to be reduced by them.“
