I specialize in working with women who eat their feelings. I have developed the STOP Eating Your Feelings approach, which differentiates four different patterns of emotional overeating. Distinguishing these four types helps compulsive eaters to identify the reasons why they binge and to target the particular patterns they need to change in order to move beyond compulsive overeating. I also work with clients with anxiety, depression, workplace stress, those healing from grief or trauma or trying to sort out the effects of growing up in a dysfunctional family.
I have been trained in body-centered psychotherapy, which includes work with body awareness, imagery, and movement. As you learn to master skills you were not taught as a child, you can move from barely getting by to growing and thriving.
Our society encourages us to view our bodies from the outside: how they look, how they perform. I teach people to develop awareness of their bodies from the inside, noticing clues to what they are thinking and feeling, learning to act on their needs and desires within an interpersonal context.
