Hunter has worked in a variety of settings including inpatient mental health, adolescent residential, community mental health, as well as providing services to youth in the juvenile justice system. He makes it a priority to work with his client’s to bring out their innate strengths in order to improve their lives. He does so by encouraging acceptance of their current life situation and working towards living in a manner more consistent with the client’s deeply held values of what is important to them.

I am a counselor that values the depth of human relationships. I use a variety of therapeutic interventions that can be summarized as somatic and attachment focused, relational, and mindful. All of these interventions are built off of the idea of present moment awareness. This means that I use each moment as potential for awareness into your inner experience. I spend time assisting each client in expanding their window of tolerance for discomfort as well as developing tools and techniques for structural changes. I am experienced working with general mental health concerns as well as what people identify as trauma and PTSD.

As a licensed psychologist, I provide psychotherapy for adults in TN (and states with PsyPact legislation). I have 15+ years experience working with young adults navigating college life. Common areas of practice include anxiety and depression management, identity development concerns, minority stress, and grief/loss. I have specialized training and practice supporting survivors of trauma through recovery. I am committed to providing affirming therapy services to those of marginalized identities and communities, including persons of color and LGBTIAQ folks.
