I utilize a variety of approaches, depending on what is needed, but I most often use EMDR and DBT skills, and draw from Polyvagal and Attachment theories.
Update: I am currently on maternity leave until mid-December! - I am passionate about providing a safe and welcoming space for people to receive support and heal. I care deeply about meeting clients where they are and tailoring sessions to their specific needs. In my work with clients, I strive to create a space in which we can become curious about patterns that are no longer working, and how they might have developed in the first place. I help people develop more effective ways of coping, and I support them in changing the ways they relate to themselves and others.

I utilize Somatic Experiencing and EMDR, which both assist in healing nervous system dysregulation, build resilience, support stress management and can be used for trauma resolution.
It is my hope to partner with you in learning how to first be with and then move through life's painful experiences in such a way that feels authentic to you. If you have unresolved grief, trauma or other barriers to your ability to thrive, I would love to join you in opening new doors to embodied and conscious living. I enjoy working with folks from most walks of life, those with body-based concerns such as chronic illness, chronic pain or difficult to diagnose physical symptoms that may be having an impact on mental health.

We all seek safety, health and happiness in our lives, sometimes supported by, and other times challenged by, our life experiences, relationships and larger environment. Life often provides many resources for safety, health and happiness. When our connection with these resources is somehow block or reduced, we can use a supportive, caring relationship to find our way through worries, depression, dependencies, grief, low self-esteem, relationship disturbances, and spiritual struggles.

I utilize trauma-informed and attachment-based practices such as EMDR, IFS/parts work, somatic therapy, and mindfulness-based interventions.
Has traditional talk therapy fallen short in helping you find the root of the issues you repeatedly face? Are you struggling to understand and change the patterns that keep you feeling stuck and disconnected? You may be struggling to navigate relationships, battle loud negative self-talk, or experience debilitating feelings of shame, guilt and embarrassment. If these experiences sound all too familiar, you're in the right place. I aim to equip my clients with the skills to manage difficult thoughts and emotions, navigate relationship struggles, and heal their trauma from the root.

I specialize in helping adults (age 18 and up) suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, and trauma using EMDR, Brainspotting, and other evidence based approaches.
My typical client feels drained at the end of each day due to anxiety or trauma. Trying to appear “normal” can be a full time job if your mind is constantly racing and you haven’t had a good night’s sleep in a long time. Maybe you are tired of overreacting to those around you or you think you just have to live with the trauma of past events.

I also utilize EMDR and am Certified in Brainspotting, used for trauma, anxiety, grief, and other problems.
Is anxiety getting the best of you? Are you feeling depressed, with low energy and motivation? Or, could it be that your most important relationships are suffering from a lack of emotional connection, with frequent arguments or stony silence? We all have times in life where things may not be going the way we envision, but if you feel stuck in a bad place, there is hope. Many people find therapy helps to get them back on track. It can be a bit scary to think about taking this step, but it can make a difference.

My approach is using a technique called EMDR, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, an evidence based, worldwide treatment for trauma.
Asking for help is a strength, not a weakness. That knowledge is what led me to become a therapist ... how effective and life-changing therapy can be. I start where you, the client, are and we make a treatment plan together to reach the goals you would like to achieve. We will develop a working hypothesis that may change over time as new information is obtained. Many mental health issues begin with an event and the mental health issue, be it anxiety, panic attacks, depression, anger, unrelated phobia, facial tic, chronic pain, avoidant behavior, dysfunctional relationship pattern, stress and/or insomnia is the resulting symptom.

Some of those tools include animal assisted therapy, TF-CBT, EMDR, DBT, Mindfulness, CBT etc.
I believe that everyone has the ability within their self to reach their highest potential. I believe that past experiences or negative messages we have received can cause us to lose our way. I want to help people find their way to their highest potential. I am a very caring considerate person but I can also be very direct. If you are someone who is ready to work hard to be the best you, you can be then we will do well together.

I often use EMDR and work with children affected by divorce, grief, child sexual abuse, anxiety, and trauma.
Is your child struggling with a lot of "what if" questions, perfectionism, fears, yelling or hitting, trouble with peers, trouble sleeping, clinginess, withdrawn, angry, or mean to others? As a parent, you may feel exhausted, lose patience, unsure of how to help, or want another perspective. I work with your child and family to provide a path for personal growth, learn healthy coping skills, build a stronger connection, improve communication, resolve conflicts, and have fun! Parents will learn how to co-regulate and manage challenging behaviors. I meet your child and family where you are to move toward healing and understanding.

I have extensive training in trauma informed care, IFS, EMDR and Brainspotting.
It isn't easy to ask for help. It’s easy to get discouraged in life, and in relationships. It’s hard to break patterns that keep us stuck and to move past the pain and anxieties we face. With an integrative approach to therapy, I help clients break destructive patterns, heal wounds, develop better coping strategies, improve relational skills, and gain richer understanding of themselves and others. The common challenges I work with include: sexual intimacy. codependency, anxiety, infidelity, loss, personality growth, trauma, family conflict, parenting, eating disorders, spiritual abuse and Christian spiritual direction.

EMDR Therapists

Who is EMDR for?

EMDR was initially developed as a treatment for individuals with Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), for whom memories of a deeply distressing experience can be inadvertently triggered by random everyday events. The procedure has since been applied in the treatment of many other conditions. For example, it is used by some therapists to treat anxiety disorders including panic and phobias, depression, dissociative disorders, eating disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorders, and some personality disorders. It is suitable for adolescents and adults.

Why do people need EMDR?

People need EMDR as a way to manage distressing memories that in some way hamper the ability to function in the present. The procedure is believed to target the way memories are stored in the brain. Evidence indicates that past disturbing experiences cause ongoing distress because they were not adequately processed, and when such memories are triggered in the present, they are accompanied by all the emotions, thoughts, and physical sensations as the initial experience.

What problems does EMDR treat?

First and foremost, EMDR is intended as a treatment for PTSD, to defuse distressing memories that intrude on and impair everyday functioning. It is also often used to help those who are subject to panic attacks, phobias, and other forms of anxiety. In addition, EMDR has been used to treat individuals with depression, eating disorders, and personality disorders.

What happens in EMDR therapy?

First the therapist takes an individual’s history, and then the therapist and client decide which distressing experience(s) will be the target(s) of the exercise, delivered via a side-to-side visual stimulus requiring lateral eye movements. The client will be asked to activate thoughts, feelings, and any body sensations related to the troubling experience. The eye movements are said to reduce the emotional charge of the memory, so that the experience can then be safely discussed with the therapist and digested, minimizing its ability to trigger anxiety.
