I specialize in Emotionally Focused Therapy ( EFT), guiding couples to identify and express their emotional needs, fostering deeper connections and healthier patterns.
An ideal client could be a couple seeking to improve communication and rebuild emotional intimacy, aiming to understand each other's needs and manage conflict. Alternatively, an individual woman might seek support for self-esteem and identity issues, wanting to enhance resilience and establish healthy boundaries. Both types are motivated by personal growth and a desire for stronger, healthier relationships.

In order to meet the needs of each client, I integrate elements of CBT/DBT, EFT, Internal Family Systems, and play/art therapy, to help clients make positive changes in their lives.
My goal is to build a strong therapeutic relationship grounded in collaboration, empathy, and trust. Committed to seeing each client as unique, I practice from a strength based and person-centered approach so you can get to your best self and experience lasting change. My clients rely on me to help make sense of the issues bringing them into therapy and also better understand how their family of origin, upbringing, and life experiences have impacted and continue to impact their mental well-being. I work with children, adolescents, teens, adults, couples, and families who may be experiencing a number of struggles or challenges.

I mainly use EMDR, DBT and EFT.
Sometimes clients can feel stuck in “survival mode”, which can keep them from fully engaging in their lives. I am passionate about empowering my clients to see they have options in their lives and ensure they are able to regain a sense of self. I believe such empowerment allows clients to create better connections with others and have compassion for themselves. It can be exhausting to feel like you have to be “fine” all the time, especially during a difficult season of life. I offer a safe space for you to come in and heal.

I am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional, Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, Certified Multiple Addiction Therapist Candidate, and am trained in EMDR and Emotionally Focused Therapy for couples ( EFT).
In my personal and professional life, I have found one thing to be true: Life can be hard. I have a passion for supporting others in resolving pain and reclaiming fullness in life. While pain is an inevitable part of the human experience, suffering is optional. I am dedicated to helping individuals, couples, and families heal from relational and other traumas, problematic sexual behaviors, addictions, and intimacy disorders. I see men and women whose lives have spiraled out of control become desperate for help. I see brokenhearted adults and children as they learn to cope with an unstable world. I take an evidence based approach, using a combination of therapy models including Relational Life Therapy, as well as concepts from EFT and the Gottman Institute.
Are you feeling stuck in your marriage or relationship? Do you love and care for your partner but are struggling to communicate and get on the same page? Do you want to move from feeling like roommates who are surviving into a place where you are thriving? Relationships are hard and can lead to a great deal of stress, but they can also be the most amazing blessing of all when two people are willing to work on creating the life they have always wanted together. If this describes you or your relationship, I can help!

My ideal client would have a healthy dose of honestness, openness, and willingness. I don't expect for my clients to have specific goals or outcomes in the beginning, but an awareness that they want something to be different. Some of the issues I've worked with extensively over the years have been related to recovery from addiction, helping loved one's of an addict, co-dependency, trauma, and navigating an individual's emotions and how to understand and express them in a healthier way. It's about breaking away from insanity and moving toward serenity.

Sometimes we come to a time in our life when we can use some guidance. I love working with people to help them along their way. We can explore what works for you and what doesn't. Together we can figure out where you want to go from here and how to get there. I've helped many adults and youth with personal growth as they navigated through life stressors and transitions.

Emotionally Focused Therapists

Who is emotionally focused therapy for?

Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.

Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?

People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.

What happens in emotionally focused therapy?

Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.

What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?

EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
