We all would like to think we are strong enough to overcome these issues on our own, but there comes a time when we need to reach out for additional help. I specialize in treating trauma, mood disorders, and grief. I also have worked extensively with teens and their families, so I know the problems that are unique to teens.

Developmentally in the US, we begin to truly form our identity as teenagers, but sometimes that gets stunted for one reason or another. I want to be able to walk by your side while you discover and choose who you want to be at whatever age that may happen. Anxiety, depression, and OCD are other issues I focus on.

Personal life experiences have inspired me to help others. I have developed a deeper understanding and empathy for others that experience difficult times. I have experience working with clients that have experienced significant loss and trauma. Physical health and mental health problems, often, develop when an individual experiences high level of stress. Depression and other mental health problems may occur when individuals and families experience multiple issues. Some issues may include separation, divorce, and loss of a loved one.

Tiffany Porter is the lead therapist and co-founder of Help Recovery Centers. She has a degree in healthcare management and is a level II licensed alcohol and drug abuse counselor. For the last 10 years, she has been providing alcohol and drug assessments and outpatient substance abuse treatment, while directing and managing the daily activities of the DUI Education Centers. The DUI Education Centers is an education and alternative sentencing facility for non-violent alcohol and drug related offenders. Tiffany also works as a counselor and medical liaison with Recovery Consulting Service’s Suboxone and counseling program..

My favorite part of what I do is getting to hear other people’s stories and how they came to be at the place that they are right now. All of us, including myself, have been through times when we’re hurting and we don’t know what direction to go. I often say, “The thing that is worse than hurting is hurting alone.” One of the biggest benefits of counseling is connection. I believe connection is more healing than any pill, program, or self-help book. That’s why I take being invited into my clients’ stories very seriously. It’s an honor to get to walk alongside folks as they decide to get to the hard work of making changes and healing.

I love sitting with everyone. God gave me the passion to sit with people and listen. I love to sit with children and teenagers, young adults and older adults. Recognizing that people are broken, I am blessed to sit with them to try and help them along. Realizing the answers lie within but sometimes help is needed to highlight those answers. I daily pray for wisdom and discernment to help those that come to me, put the pieces of the puzzle back together.

I am Beth Ann Mergens, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, a wife, and mother to five amazing children. Over the last 15 years I have navigated the ups and downs that come with raising kids a variety of ages, the tension of both releasing and nurturing a professional life, and living intentionally in marriage and multiple pregnancy losses. To begin, Distance Counseling is offered for clients who cannot make face to face sessions. I believe barriers seldom produce opportunities for change. On another note, I am usually asked, what person is best suited or needs counseling? Honestly, there are many ways and templates (Word document and Google Search) geared to answer this question. Those methods sound enticing. Yet, they operate from the focus of a proprietor. Another clinician may indicate the best suited clients are willing and committed. I don't need the BEST SUITED CLIENT, just those who ask for help. Let's Work Together.
