We therefore integrate psychodynamic work within and alongside ERP, to foster deeper and more lasting change than ERP alone can offer.
We specialize in Rumination-Focused ERP for OCD and anxiety disorders. This approach focuses on treating compulsive rumination, and provides a highly systematic yet gentler approach to exposure therapy. RF- ERP can be helpful to patients who have not made significant progress in other types of treatment, including individuals with Pure O or Sensorimotor OCD.

My theoretical background has been influenced by techniques from Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Exposure and Response Prevention ( ERP), Bowen Family Systems Theory, and the French Psychoanalytic tradition.
My hope is to create a relationship between the therapist and the individual that fosters positive and lasting change. To that end, I work patiently to ensure a sense of trust and safety. In addition, I feel I work well with individuals who go to therapy to be challenged, to be "unstuck." In these cases, I can be supportive while also being firm and direct. My approach is sensitive to the individual's life circumstance, their personality, and their comfort level with the therapeutic process.

I have experience working with clients who struggle with mood disorders, role transitions, int erpersonal conflict, trauma/PTSD, and substance abuse issues.
I practice counseling with the perspective that humans develop behaviors to serve some sort of purpose. As a counselor, I am here to offer guidance and support for when those behaviors are no longer necessary or are no longer serving the purpose that was intended. I strive to assist clients in developing a balance in how they both experience and express emotions, with the belief that there is no "bad" emotion. My goal is to work with clients in discovering a state of awareness of the uncertainty in life rather than a fear of it.

My practice is exclusively dedicated to serving adults with OCD. I offer an intensive and highly customized approach based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) combined with Exposure/Response Prevention ( ERP). Although ERP is the gold standard treatment for OCD, misconceptions about ERP often result in unnecessary fears. The pain of ERP treatment is no greater, and often less, than the pain you are already in. You will find my approach respectful, affirming, and gentle.

There are so many people who believe they are defective or fear rejection if they talk about their struggles. One of the first things I ask people about is what they need to feel safe. Vulnerability is not a skill we've all been taught, but a huge ingredient in the healing process! I aim to work at a gentle/appropriate pace and tailor therapy to YOU. On top of that, I will regularly check-in on how you perceive your progress/time in therapy. If you are someone who is curious and eager (or simply just fed up with where you're at!), feel free to reach out. All are welcome in my space no matter their stories.

Take this in - you are having trouble sleeping, the stress is piling on, you are struggling to find your sense of purpose, all while waiting for the next curve ball to come your way. Rather than taking an aimless approach, why don't you take the first step and discover your own meaning and consider tackling a specific difficulty or taking one step at a time.

Do I need exposure and response prevention therapy?
Many clients decide to seek help for obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors when these symptoms are distressing enough to disrupt everyday life. Any thoughts or behaviors that cause friction in close relationships are also worth addressing. In addition, the client’s symptoms don’t have to be severe for them to benefit from ERP therapy.
Is exposure and response prevention therapy part of cognitive behavioral therapy?
Exposure and response prevention is one specific type of CBT that focuses on behavioral change in response to triggering stimuli. It is related to exposure therapy but adds an additional component of preventing compulsive and harmful responses.
How long does exposure and response prevention therapy take?
While every patient is different, exposure and response prevention therapy typically lasts around 12 sessions, although some treatments can take longer. A therapist will determine if the treatment is complete based on how the client faces their fears, particularly the strongest ones. When a client feels less anxiety about stimuli that once evoked terror or distress, that is generally an indication that they are nearing the end of ERP therapy.
What are the limitations of exposure and response prevention therapy?
The most common pitfalls of exposure and response prevention therapy include not addressing a client’s core fears, allowing the client to avoid their most distressing stimuli, and using imaginary exposure when the client requires real-life exposure (and vice versa). ERP therapy is most effective when the client commits to the full course of treatment; if the client stops early or doesn’t practice what they have learned outside of therapy sessions, they are less likely to have successful outcomes.
