As a psychotherapist for more than 30 years, I believe that therapeutic alliance between a therapist and client is most essential for successful treatment outcomes. It establishes trust, encourages collaboration, and reinforces realistic expectations that enable clients to achieve their unique abilities, strength, positive traits, talent, gifts and skills and should not be defined by their circumstances or diagnosis. While I cannot change the past, we can at least work together to figure out ways to promote values, unconditional self-acceptance, set goals that would lead to growth and development and overall wellbeing.

I help people make the changes they desire in their lives. I don’t use EMDR. DBT. EFT, IFS or any of the other new-fangled techniques. What I do is listen deeply and with compassion and without judgment. I strive to help you better understand yourself and any patterns of thinking, feeling, and behavior that are holding you back from being who you want to be. I have over 40 years of experience working with a variety of problems. I am also an ordained spiritual director and appreciate the opportunity to work with individuals who want their spiritual lives to be addressed as part of their counseling.

Clients utilize my testing and evaluation services to determine the nature of their learning difficulties and to develop a treatment plan tailored to help them overcome these difficulties. Many clients receive counseling to help them to improve their school or work performance and to improve their self-esteem. Referrals are made to medical doctors if medications are deemed necessary (i.e., for ADHD, depression, etc.). Also, I am passionate about helping others with various emotional difficulties, relationship problems, and improving general life satisfaction through individual, family, and group therapies.

Over the past 40 years I have of provided counseling and coaching in a broad range of issues. Betrayal, which is a very painful experience, is one of my specialities As an experienced therapist and one who has experienced betrayal, I have extensive experience in counseling others in this area and recently I published a book on betrayal, The Judas Kiss, Growing Beyond Betrayal. At White House Sport Psychology we specialize in sports performance, sport psychology and mental health for athletes. We help athletes overcome challenges in and out of sport (i.e. mental blocks, performance anxiety, perfectionism, personal issues, etc). We'll help you focus on what is most important to you and teach you how to overcome the barriers that get in your way (e.g. stress, anxiety, relationships, etc.). This will include helping you gain a deeper understanding of your concerns as well as teaching you specific skills and strategies you can use to manage the challenges you face, and ultimately move toward your goals.
