” Most of my folks have OCD, eating disorders, borderline personality structure and/or bipolar.
Ever feel like the princess-and-the-pea: so acutely aware of something to the point of distraction and pain, but unable to get relief? And on top of that, no one else seems to get it? Or maybe you’re like Goldilocks: trying to find your “just right” of whatever it is you’re seeking, but your problem-solving keeps coming up short? Perhaps you believe fairytale analogies are irrelevant and are thinking, I just want help, literally. If any of this resonates, let’s talk.

My therapeutic approach is rooted in collaboration, authenticity, and compassion. My goal is to create an environment in which you can explore your own path as I support and guide you through achieving your goals. No matter the circumstance, everyone is worthy of a space to process their challenges and reach their full potential. I believe that healing is not a linear process, and each individual has a unique path to self-discovery and achieving wellness. I am hopeful for the opportunity to help you build better, stronger connections with yourself and others, and ultimately, to walk alongside you down your own path.

Stressed? Tired? Can’t seem to get ahead? Don't like yourself? Finding that sense of security and strength in the midst of changes, challenges, and relationships is difficult, and some feel that taking time to stop and reflect is impossible; yet often it is one of the most important steps in moving forward or getting unstuck. Stopping and working with a trained therapist can help facilitate change in meaningful and impactful ways. It can also help avoid a complete life derailment. I believe that the work I do with my clients is sacred, which is why I employee some of the most up to date and clinically validated treatment techniques.

I am in the practice of helping people understand themselves and find pathways towards healing and success. Therefore, I have the honor of meeting you just as you are and seeing a glimpse of your inner world, what shaped you, and molded you into a complex individual and being. My desire is to understand where you have come from and where you would like to go. Through understanding we can begin the work of creating a path toward deeper reflection, healing and thriving.

I believe the role of a counselor is to help you integrate your experiences— both joy-filled and painful, expected and unforeseen— into an understanding of yourself as someone worthy of love and capable of meaningful action in your world. Whatever you are experiencing, I hope to help you see and relate to yourself from a place of acceptance and genuine care, believing that these two things lay the groundwork for all kinds of change. I particularly enjoy working with those who would describe themselves as caretakers, perfectionists, people-pleasers, creatives, third culture kids, and/or people of faith.

Hi! I’m Kate. If you’re here, you’re already brave. It takes tremendous bravery and courage to seek professional help, to sit with and process some feelings of hurt. I believe it to be an incredible privilege to work as a counselor. To be trusted with some of the most vulnerable places in an individual’s life is an honor and I will uphold your story with integrity. I believe in the concept of wellness, in healing the whole person rather than a diagnosis or a problem. I consider counseling to be beneficial for all people, regardless of what may bring someone into my space. I would love to work together towards a journey of healing!

Have you avoided investment in your own health? Have you sacrificed yourself for many seasons in life to come upon a day where old coping patterns are not getting you through like they once did? Have you tried therapy before but didn't feel heard, seen or understood? Have you gone through something terrifying in your past that has power over you to this day? If any of the above resonates with you, it would be a privilege to meet you where you are and journey beside you.

Mike Tyson once said "Everyone has a plan until they get punched in the face." I love this quote because it perfectly represents how life typically goes. We all start by creating a plan and then life, well, happens. We all get knocked down and inevitably we lose our plan. "You either quit or keep going .. they both hurt." Another great quote that perfectly represents therapy. Make no mistake, when done correctly, therapy is hard. However, this hard work will pay incredible dividends. So, if you've taken a few hits and lost your plan, maybe it's time to give therapy a try?

I am passionate about story, visual arts, paying attention to attachment wounds, and a holistic view of the person as emotional, spiritual, and physical. I enjoy using therapeutic art practices with my clients to explore many aspects of hurt and healing. I have several years of experience working in mental and behavioral health treatment, with a variety of ages. I currently desire to work with adolescents and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, OCD, codependency, trauma post-traumatic stress, and other life stressors. I believe we are formed by both the things we have experienced and the relationships we have been a part of.

I have experience working with teens, adults, and couples in sex addiction, OCD, pre-marital/marital counseling, trauma, anxiety, trauma, depression, ADHD, low self-esteem, anger issues, and spiritual direction.
In the words of Virginia Satir, sometimes we prefer the certainty of misery over the misery of uncertainty. As we wrestle with our shame & fears, we often adopt patterns of controlling, avoiding, and numbing instead of accepting and confronting our suffering as God-given catalysts of growth and even purpose. This causes us to sink deeper and cling to what is familiar and comforting in the moment, forming harmful relational habits or cycles of impulsive acting out in the long run. Know that you aren’t meant to bear this burden alone. Counseling is for those brave enough to embrace their vulnerable state and learn from it.

So whether you’re struggling with some form of OCD (e.
Therapy for MEN and COUPLES. Many of us have struggled with troubling, unwanted thoughts, compulsive behaviors, broken vows, traumatic childhoods, or some enslaving addiction. Our lives are pockmarked by pain, and wounded by those we love (and we have hurt them in turn). However, this pain does not have to have the final word. We can live a life we love, one that is consistent with our deepest values. A life of peace, tenderness, freedom, courage, and love.

I am passionate about serving the OCD community, as well as individuals who are navigating issues surrounding life transitions or grief.

My top priority is to maintain a non-judgemental presence during our time together, which I hope will empower you to better understand the agency you possess. I love to take the time to laugh when appropriate, and to incorporate the interests you have into our work together.

I also host a podcast called Hope for Anxiety and OCD.
Are you ready to get unstuck from worry, obsessions, uncomfortable body sensations, traumatic memories, or shame? I believe a deeper level of healing is possible by getting to the root of the issue. I have 15 years of watching clients transform their lives, so I know it's possible for you too. Often talking alone will not get you there because your nervous system holds the keys to unlocking automatic responses. By making mind, emotion, and body connections together, we will work together to help you reach your goals. Looking to heal faster? Ask me about therapy retreat services.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
