In sessions, I work with individuals 18+ utilizing a trauma focused, client centered approach addressing concerns with mood, anxiety, ADHD and interpersonal conflicts.
Do you struggle to give yourself the credit you deserve? Does this get in the way of your relationship with yourself or others? Are you longing for a safe space to process past trauma or current stressors? I personally believe the ability to be honest about our deepest pain and the realities of life is a skill that everyone can learn once they have been given a compassionate and understanding space to practice these skills that can be so life saving and transformative. Together we can work to understand triggers, develop coping strategies, and uncover your true path to healing in order for you to foster healthier connections.

Due to the growing needs of the community; we now have three offices with two in Clarksville (933 Tracy Lane suite D & 1725 Wilma Rudolph Suite 1) and one in Nashville (404 BNA Dr. Suite 200)!

I work with clients who are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, ADHD, and relationship issues.
My work as a therapist is guided by the humanist theory that people can heal and grow if they have assistance that is genuine, empathetic, and accepting. I believe that when we accept ourselves exactly as we are, then we can find the strength to change behaviors that are not serving us. The approaches I use include EMDR, dialectic behavioral therapy (DBT), cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), neurobiology, motivational interviewing, positive psychology, attachment theory, and family systems theory.

Growing up in rural Tennessee, I have seen and experienced many of the issues that our communities face and have focused my career on helping people work through those everyday problems. Potential clients for me may be experiencing symptoms of Anxiety, Depression, or Burnout. A history of Trauma or Substance Use may have you feeling stuck in the mud, or perhaps there are pieces of your identity such as ADHD, Autism, Spiritual, or Gender/Sexual identity that have posed their own set of challenges in feeling accepted in the world. Whatever you may be experiencing, it’s important to remember: you are worth the effort to create change.

I possess an extensive treatment history with anxiety, depression, grief, relationship issues, ADHD, and PTSD.
Many people struggle with feelings of anxiety, uncertainty, being overwhelmed, or feeling “off,” but cannot identify why. Maybe you’ve tried therapy before and you didn’t experience the progress you were hoping for, or maybe you are considering therapy for the first time, either way, I am available to help you. Emotional pain can lead to long term issues for the mind and body alike and I am able to create a comfortable space for you to discuss your concerns with while educating you on practical solutions to implement in your daily life. Life is busy and it can seem like there are not enough hours in the day for one more commitment.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
