Life is an ever changing process. Whether it is the people we surround ourselves with, the classes/job we work, or our own physical well-being, few things remain the same. Sometimes, these changes bring on new challenges we feel unprepared to deal with; this past year, the COVID-19 pandemic left several of us feeling alone and ill-equipped for what it brought. In times like these, therapy can be helpful in working through such issues.

My ideal client is an individual grappling with the aftermath of traumatic experiences, seeking to transform past wounds into pathways for growth and healing. They may be experiencing symptoms such as anxiety, depression, or difficulty managing relationships. I believe that by addressing the root causes of these challenges, we can develop effective strategies for coping and building resilience. I am particularly drawn to clients who are open to exploring their emotional experiences and are committed to personal growth.

I am a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist (CEDS-S) and approved supervisor, seeing patients in person and via telehealth. I offer individual, family, and group therapy at my practice. I am regularly inspired by the individuals and families I see for therapy, and am humbled by the fact I am someone with whom they choose to share their greatest pain, their deepest secrets, and meaningful epiphanies about the world in which they live. Every person is different, every situation is different, and the number of variables present are infinite. I enjoy taking this journey with patients as they work to regain a feeling of being whole.

Trauma can make you feel alone and misunderstood. You might feel like there is no one you can talk to because you don't want to cause them pain. You try to smile and carry on but this too has stopped working. Maybe you are angry, maybe you are afraid. I get that. Maybe you just want it all to stop and go back to the way it used to be. I get that too. Trauma can be a big event or reoccurring smaller events (micro-traumas). Even relationships can feel traumatic.

I have been working as a therapist for 27 years with a wide range of different clients with various problems. I have empathy with clients and help them work through how life events cause out thoughts, feelings, reactions and choices. I help clients find ways to change and heal. The journey of life can be hard. For some, the start of life was very painful. For others, they met challenges in later years. Sometimes things happen in life when you just lose your way. Each cope with what life brings in a different manner. At times, the way you cope adds to your problems.

I just can’t carry this burden of sadness anymore! It feels like joy is something I’ll never experience. Even therapy didn’t seem to help. But, in Christ, we know there is always hope for healing and peace. I specialize in guiding people toward the emotional and spiritual peace they seek, even if other methods have failed. Together, we will work to bring about profound change through God’s grace. Confronting these overwhelming emotions can be daunting, but in faith, we can overcome. Let’s journey together toward the peace that surpasses all understanding, trusting God to heal and restore.

I work with individuals who are on a journey toward self-compassion and living more fully as their authentic selves. Many individuals I work with have experienced early life trauma, religious trauma, social anxiety, overwhelm, or are in the middle of a life transition. We can work together to gain more balance in your life and create more helpful thought patterns that offer healing instead of feeling "stuck". I offer sessions both in-person in Knoxville, TN or via telehealth throughout Ohio, Tennessee and Virginia between 8am-2pm EST on weekdays.
