Do you find yourself questioning why things feel less exciting or vibrant lately? Struggling to challenge long-standing patterns that don’t serve you as well as they used to? Are you looking for a therapist who values transparency, warmth, curiosity, and humor (plus a touch of irreverence)? If so, I may be a good fit for what you’re looking for. I’m a queer, nonbinary psychologist who’s passionate about helping people slow down to become more attuned to their minds & bodies, find empowerment through identity, and foster a greater sense of self-compassion & be less judge’y of themselves.

Calling to make a therapy appointment and then walking into a counseling office for the first time are two of the hardest things for a person to do. It takes courage even to come this far. You have what it takes to complete the journey. (note: I can return email inquiries faster than phone calls)

Navigating the sea of life requires a different set of skills throughout life. What works when you are 16 years old doesn’t work so well when you’re 40 years old. Oftentimes when life is passing by so quickly, adapting to the changes requires better-coping skills, skills you've yet to acquire. Or maybe, your teen has all of a sudden became distant, argumentative, and secretive. You’ve tried to be supportive in their growing independence, yet still needing a home base, but the scales aren’t balancing out. This is when you understand that seeking outside intervention is necessary.

Life transitions can be complicated. Sometimes, the most exciting changes can be the most difficult. Fear of change can result in anxiety, depression, panic attacks, acting out behaviors, or abuse of substances/alcohol. I work with clients to reduce symptoms that can often be associated with life transitions. I use cognitive behavioral, solution focused, and reality based therapies with my clients to assist in improving communication, increasing coping skills, and to enhance work, school, or home relationships.

In our lives, we will experience many transitions; school, relationships, aging, medical needs, and numerous others. In our current state, Coronavirus is interrupting our lives in a major way and is likely one of our biggest challenges today. This is when mental health can become more difficult to manage. It is not unusual to experience difficult feelings during such times. We may even find that we are having severe anxiety or depression. We can work through these transitions and move beyond them to a better life. It will take work but it can be done.

Hello! Helping individuals to heal from their pasts and grow into the best version of themselves is something I truly love. Today, we know that trauma settles into our brains and bodies in ways that time cannot fully heal (despite the old adage, “time heals everything”) . Would you like to be more present in your daily life, have a healthier relationship to yourself and others? I would love to work together to help you heal from your past, so that you can live life more fully today.
