My approach to therapy is rooted in connection and safety. I believe in the importance of the therapeutic relationship for healing and growth, and I strive to create a safe, accepting space for each of my clients. I approach therapy from a trauma-informed, psychodynamic perspective, exploring with clients how past experiences, attachment, and trauma have impacted them. I believe in the importance of acknowledging the whole self in the healing process, and I often incorporate ideas from Somatic Experiencing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, playtherapy/expressive arts, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy into counseling.

I utilize many types of interventions including trauma-informed processing (Brainspotting, IFS), somatic interventions, attachment-based interventions, and research-backed psychoeducation.
Hello! I am a Nashville therapist for adults, adolescents, and couples. I hold a master's degree in marriage and family therapy from Fuller Theological Seminary. I aim to create a safe, nonjudgemental environment where individuals can share all parts of themselves and be met with acceptance and understanding. My style is relational, meaning I desire to create a space to truly listen and engage with clients and work collaboratively as a team. I am comfortable utilizing an integrated approach that synthesizes my Christian values with research based practices if desired.

I practice through a somatic lens and predominantly use elements of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Embodied Recovery when working with clients.
I am passionate about working with women, teens, and members of the LGBTQ+ community on issues like disordered eating and eating disorders, body image challenges (not only the way we see our bodies, but the way we experience them), people pleasing, perfectionism, anxiety, and depression. Currently, I am practicing with Kimberly Rate (License 4434) as my primary supervisor.

These exercises consist of somatic exercises like movement, yoga poses, Qigong, exercise, walking, nature, and mindfulness.
Worry happens in your mind, stress happens in your body, and anxiety happens in your mind and your body. In small doses, worry, stress and anxiety can be positive forces in our lives. But most of us are too worried, too stressed, and too anxious. How do we manage this worry, stress, and anxiety in a healthy manner? Lee’s strength is building rapport and holding space for her clients by listening and utilizing curiosity to learn about her clients.

Together with some somatic work, I use these to help you reprocess and navigate issues such as PTSD, anxiety, depression, and even spots in life where you feel stuck.
Are the things that once made you happy no longer making you happy? Have you been through a traumatic experience that left you feeling scared, lonely, or even doubting who you are? Maybe you’ve been through a series of little things that you believe shouldn’t be bothering you, but they are. Have you found yourself on Google trying to figure yourself out only to find article after article about “childhood trauma”? I feel you. You are not alone. Together, I believe we can reduce your suffering, find direction, and feel happiness once again. My office is a safe and affirming space for all LGBTQ+ people.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic modalities, including EMDR, mindfulness, and Somatic Therapy.
Hello! I am so glad you are here. Starting therapy is a big step, and reading this alone is such an act of courage and self-compassion! As a clinician I aim to create a space where I can meet you exactly where you are and provide a warm, safe, and judgement free space. I am passionate about helping you learn to love pieces of yourself that may have been hard to before and rewrite the relationship with self. I will aim to help you unlearn negative beliefs and begin to change relationship patterns that no longer serve you. I work well with people pleasers, people who struggle to set boundaries, and those who long to find healing.

I draw from trauma-informed and somatic-oriented therapeutic approaches and lean heavily on mindfulness.
Hi there, I’m Betsy. I believe that while pain and loss are inescapable facets of the human experience, we can integrate them into the rest of our story when we connect to the safe presence of another. My guiding assumption as a therapist is that you have an inner healing intelligence inside of you, and it’s our collaborative work to cultivate your relationship to them by processing old wounds and gently examining that which no longer serves you as you slowly come to reclaim your whole self. I work with adults who have experienced complex trauma, religious harm and deconstruction, end of life, and grief and loss.

I work from a somatic orientation, bringing in the foundational belief that repairing our relationships with our bodies is intrinsic to the healing process.
I primarily work with individuals with histories of complex or developmental trauma, as well as acute trauma. I appreciate working with people struggling with or recovering from disordered eating, body images issues, or diet culture. I frequently work with anxiety and worry, and have experience working specifically with health anxiety and panic. I welcome anyone who feels hesitant (or maybe even skeptical!) towards their emotions or therapy; often, our greatest fears and desires are hiding under ambivalence and doubt, and I love treading into those waters with people.

Through my experience and training, I approach healing from a holistic perspective and I utilize a variety of interventions including Somatic Experiencing, EMDR, trauma sensitive yoga, CRM, IFS, and Ketamine Assisted Therapy.
I believe that we all deserve support and at the core of personal transformation is a duality of self-compassion and desire for change. As humans we are intrinsically wired for connection, resiliency and healing. However, sometimes there are things from the past or other life stressors that cause us to feel stuck and that healing is out of our reach. I am deeply interested in the mind-body connection and believe reconnecting to our bodies can be incredibly transformational. I work with folks in adolescence and adulthood who are desiring to address trauma, optimal performance, depression, anxiety and life transitions.

EFT, EMDR, Somatic, CSAT, and Attachment theory guide my work.
Do you struggle with sex getting more daily attention than your closest relationships? Maybe a previous infidelity or betrayal continues to plague the relationship? Many of my clients struggle to make sense of emotions, but long to feel safe and connected to friends and family. Despite our best protective strategies, emotional experiences will not be ignored. Over a lifespan, adaptive protective strategies of the past become our prisons. Mal-adaptive in the present, old and helpful strategies of the past form the barriers to trusting safe and connected relationships we all desperately desire.

Talk therapy is not enough. My approach to therapy focuses on combining cognitive and somatic therapies to strengthen connection to self, and reduce the blocks to healing. The goal is to connect to your authenticity, and have the freedom to find positive and affirming ways to enjoy relationships with self and others. The goal is to experience life without shutting down or disconnecting, and/or using destructive behaviors to reduce pain and distress. Attaining the freedom to choose what you want for yourself, begins with taking the first step.

I incorporate a combination of treatment modalities including EMDR, Trauma Sensitive Yoga, Psychodrama, Somatic Therapy, and Experiential Therapy.
My name is Tori Rogers. I am passionate about helping people move through pain, find empowerment, regulate their nervous systems, and connect to themselves in a more meaningful way. I believe, at times, we all feel like strangers to ourselves. I believe we are already whole and can feel shattered at the same time. I believe that the antidote to shame is self love. I believe that there is no better vehicle to connection to oneself than the natural world. I believe in chasing dreams. I believe that tapping into one’s intuition is the key to empowerment. I believe in holistic healing (which occurs mostly OUTSIDE of the therapy office).

Being a human is hard. Things happen that leave us feeling lost and uncertain of what to do with it all. On top of that, we hold a lot of what happens to us in the body, creating a struggle between what we feel and what we know, and wreaking havoc on our ability to function in the here and now. I am passionate about exploring this struggle through the creative arts, somatic work, and talk therapy. Words aren’t always enough, and using a blend of these three approaches opens up a deeper well from within our spirits. From that well, new life springs forth and we connect with our most authentic self.

My practice is attachment-based, incorporates mindfulness, DBT, and somatic techniques to help you befriend your nervous system.
Are you looking to break free from suffering and overcome your reluctance to be your authentic self? I know how hard it can be to try to cope and be in the struggle alone. As a licensed therapist in Nashville, Tennessee, I help clients navigate complex trauma and mental health challenges like depression, anxiety and interpersonal difficulties, as well as OCD, ADHD, and PTSD. I deeply believe that cost should not be a barrier to accessing quality mental health care and healing, so I offer a sliding-scale. My approach is integrative – tailored to your unique story and needs. We can walk together, grow together, and heal together.

Somatic Therapists

How does somatic therapy work?

Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.

Is EMDR a somatic therapy?

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.

Is somatic therapy evidence-based?

Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.

What is somatic trauma therapy?

Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
