Together, we'll work on practical ways to zap the intensity of your anxiety, OCD, or trauma, so you can FINALLY experience true calm.
Overwhelmed. Anxious. Exhausted. Your brain is like a hamster wheel of worst-case scenarios, relentless worry, and you're just... so... TIRED. You've tried ignoring, distracting, or arguing with yourself to get some peace, but the relief is temporary. When it all comes barging back, you wonder, "Why can't I stop ...(insert cyclical mental stress)..? How come..(insert quick-fix).. isn't working? …Will I EVER feel better?!" You know there are ways to find relief from OCD, anxiety, or trauma, but none of your self-help internet research has made much improvement. There HAS to be a way to break free of this emotional trap - but how?

As an experienced anxiety/ OCD therapist, I believe that you can find freedom from the anxiety that keeps you up at night.
Do you find yourself gripped by anxiety and worry no matter what you do? Maybe you're fed up with cycling through worst case scenario thoughts in your mind, feeling overwhelmed and distracted or wishing you could just "turn your brain off". Maybe you're tired of asking yourself, "what if... (insert distressing but unlikely event here)?" You might not even remember a time things didn't feel this way. But one thing is for sure: you're ready for some relief. You're ready to quit worrying all the time. You're ready to feel present and connected to your loved-ones. Most of all, you're ready to relax again.

I currently hold my LPC-MHSP license and I specialize in several areas including depression, OCD/anxiety, stress, and couples counseling. I enjoy working with individuals who are open to the therapy process and are willing to work toward goals. Please consider, this process is NOT a one-off session - it is a course of treatment whereby you need to be committed to change and healing towards a happy more grounded and integrated future. Therapy is something you engage in, not something you receive passively and while like most things in life that are incredibly difficult to do, they tend to be the most fulfilling.

I work with teens and adults and am skilled in working with those struggling with addiction, OCD, eating disorders, perfectionism, and trauma.
Now serving Tennessee clients (online only) and Colorado residents (online and in person). Let’s be honest-therapy is uncomfortable! There’s no getting around that squirmy “I can’t believe I have to tell this stranger my problems” feeling. The only way to make progress is to move through those feelings. I am here to be by your side and guide you through the numerous emotions that come up in session. I admire my clients for their ability to face the challenges of therapy with veracity, strength, and sometimes humor. I’m here to make the therapy process marginally less uncomfortable by providing a safe, non-judgmental space.

Do you feel stuck? Maybe you feel like you’ll never get out of the same old routine no matter what you do. Or you think, “Even if I talk to someone about what’s going on, my clothes won’t get folded,” or, “My kid just won’t get off their phone. We’ve tried everything!” And, to be fair, you probably have tried everything. At least, everything that works for “everyone else”. I’m Abby. I specialize in working with people who think a little differently. Whether you’re a teen (or a parent of one), neurodivergent (ADHD, Autism, OCD, etc.), or experiencing burnout, you may have thought, “How do I get back to normal?”

I have experience working with depression, anxiety, OCD, anger, life transitions, relationship issues, and more.
Hey there! I’m so glad you’re here. Asking for help is one of the strongest - and scariest - things a person can do. I would love to provide a comfortable and safe space for you to explore the things you want to change. Together we can think about pieces of your life that are sticky, that take up too much space. I’m here to be an unbiased sounding board, a shoulder to lean on, and someone who can call you out when you need it (we all need that sometimes). I aim to create an environment of openness and honesty, so we can cut through the surface level niceties and get to the heart of your needs.

I decided to become a therapist because of my own struggles with mental health issues especially as an adolescent and young adult. I want to take these awful experiences and use them as motivation to help others. If you are an over thinker, I believe I can help. I work with engineers, executives, health care professionals, teachers, and pretty much any person who is in a profession that tends to reward perfectionism and over analysis.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
