Working on yourself is the most important work you will ever do. I believe we are all in this life together, and we all need a little help sometimes. I want to be the person who helps you. We will discover, together, what goals are most important to you, then we will then work on building the tools to help you change your life. It may not be easy at times, but that is why I'm here to guide you. I've got your back. We will do this by working on possible traumas, anxieties, or other road blocks that need to be examined and broken through. I'm here to help adults of all ages and gender, as well as couples to make the most of their life

I work with a wide range of populations from individuals, families, parents, pre marital, ADHD, autism/Asperger's, giftedness, twice-exceptional (2e) & beyond. As a licensed marriage & family therapist, I believe in therapy for the whole person to include mind, body, spirit. We are all made for connection - to ourselves & to others. When we open ourselves to another person, we trust that person with our most vulnerable self. My goal is to provide that safe place. As you find safety in nurturing the essence of who you are, you will discover that growth begins. With that growth, comes healing within yourself & your relationships

Women and pre- marital couples have unique reasons for seeking counseling. You may be a woman dealing with the stressors from being a wife, a mom, a professional; you've forgotten who you are or even how to find balance. You've found yourself overwhelmed with anxiety and struggling in your relationships. Perhaps your relationship is new and you want to focus on it before taking the next step or find you're caught up in negative cycles of communication and need help identifying new cycles to rekindle your love for your spouse. Regardless of who you are, your desire to have a sense of self and security is a priority.

I hold a master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University, as well as a bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Auburn University.
Regardless of where you find yourself, you deserve to feel supported and heard. Life can bring many seasons. Some seasons can be challenging, making us question our worth and purpose. Other seasons feel permanent, leaving us feeling stuck and hopeless. Or maybe we experience a change, forcing us to shift and transition. My desire is to meet you exactly where you are, no matter the season you find yourself in. I hope to walk with you towards a place of growth as you realize your strengths and self-worth.

I hold bachelor's degrees in English literature and Journalism and received my master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Trevecca Nazarene University in 2009.
I believe we are relational creatures designed to live in intimate relationship with God, Self, and Others and attention must be given to all three areas in order to experience deep transformation. My desire is to walk with clients toward health by exploring their story to uncover the themes, shaping beliefs, and coping strategies that keep us from living fully. Since relational healing takes place in relationship, I strive to create a safe place for my clients to process, grow, be challenged, make personal and relational discoveries, and move toward healing, wholeness, and freedom.

I feel that being 68 years old and celebrating 50 years of marriage endows me with a measure of life experience that enhances my ongoing clinical training.
I work with individuals, couples and families who are dealing with problems which hinder them from growing in their personal life and their relationships. I use a non-judgmental systems approach to understand all the factors relevant to the issues you are facing. Then, to assist you, in finding the "best" path for your healing and growth. I am glad to offer non-denominational Christian based counseling to anyone who desires to work from that spiritual background. Although, I am happy to work with people of all thoughts and belief systems.

Marriage Counseling Therapists

How does marriage counseling work?

Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.

How long does marriage counseling typically last?

Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.

Is marriage counseling effective?

Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.

Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?

Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
