I work with teenagers and adults who are seeking to heal from past hardships, build helpful coping strategies, and discover emotional wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment. Together, we can identify and build upon your strengths in order to process and integrate your past, present, and future, discovering a life worth living. As humans, we need to feel seen, understood, and valued for our experience. In a chaotic, changing world, it can be difficult to form the type of supportive networks that allow individuals to feel valued or empowered.

One of my favorite quotes from Alice in Wonderland is: "It's no use going back to yesterday, because I was a different person then." When we feel stuck in our world, it is so hard to see past our pain and frustration. My goal as a therapist is to guide clients down an intentional path of balance and healing. Our thoughts can be so powerful. Negative ones hold us captive and keep us in the dark, but positive thoughts have the ability to transform us.

Grief is frequently misunderstood and dismissed in our fast-paced, profit driven culture.
Have you recently experienced the death of a loved one or beloved pet? Do you struggle with feelings of regret, guilt, or isolation? Well-intentioned messages from others may be to “just push through it” or "give it time." However, we are often left feeling alone and uncertain about how we are supposed to resume our relationships, careers and lives. For some, unresolved grief can lead to poor physical health and a lower quality of life. Grief is not a sign that you are unwell or unevolved. It means that you have loved and wanted love to continue. Love and healing beyond the loss is possible.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
