Therapy takes courage and it takes courage to take that first step. Together we will work on changes you want to make in your life. Together we can help you work on having a life worth living and finding the changes that you want in your life. I will work with you on defining problems, discussing how these have impacted your life, setting goals, and making accomplishments.

After nearly 25 years of owning restaurants and life in the music industry, I decided to pursue my true passion and help others as a mental health therapist. I help people learn how to be satisfied with life as it is and find a way to inner peace.

I specialize in working with women who are dealing with anger, career challenges or transitions, stress, & anxiety.
You’re sick and tired of feeling small, being walked all over, and not being heard. You’ve spent so much of your life focusing on what others needed from you that now you’re not sure what you need. You’re actually not even sure who you are outside of the roles you’ve used to define yourself for so long. What you are sure of, though, is that you’re ready to do things differently—to go in a direction that will make you feel content with your choices, bring more balance into your life, and help you have better relationships with your friends and family. Changing your life through therapy might not be easy, but it will be worth it.

I specialize in treating PTSD, using EMDR and IFS. I'm licensed in California, Tennessee, Oregon, and Colorado. I have helped clients improve self esteem, anxiety levels, depression, relational issues, phobias, lack of a sense of life direction, sleep, greater self awareness, anger issues, and more. Through teaching skills such as noticing and being with sensations, feelings, and thoughts, clients can access deeper parts of themselves. Clients get to the root of the issue, look at things in new ways, and heal the trauma that is stored in the body (by feeling it, safety, with my guidance and training) rather than avoiding it.

My primary work is with men, couples, and families who are wrestling with depression, anxiety, anger, self-doubt, and unhealthy behaviors.
I believe that one of the greatest power and influence in our lives are our relationships with others. It is from relationships that all of our trauma, negativity, and heartache originate; however, it is only through relationships that we can also find true healing for prior wounds that continue to determine present actions and emotions. The difference in these two kinds of relationships is honesty, vulnerability, and reciprocity: a mutual connection that cultivates intimacy and acceptance by removing shame and anxiety. It is only through these authentic relationships that we can truly feel complete and secure in our own skin.

If you have job stress, or with personality differences, substance use, anger, or sleep problems.
Change is hard. Relationships are hard. If you're experiencing challenges in work, family, or any area where other people are involved-there is help! And if there's anything the last few years have shown us, it's the need for help in relationships! It can really pay to develop a great life/work strategy and create a powerful set of life “tools” for your “toolbelt”. Therapy can do this and more. We will work collaboratively as a team, setting and achieving goals through structured discussion.

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2010. Prior to this I worked at Children's Services, a domestic violence shelter, child advocacy center, etc. I have dealt with abuse/ sex abuse, neglect, hurt, loss, etc. I worked in both the social service side and juvenile delinquent side with kids/ teens ages 0-19 mostly, and their parents, relatives, foster families, etc. I have dealt a lot with kids in the educational system and know the resources to link them to if needed. I believe that one of the most important needs is trusting the counselor. The age group I am mainly seeing in my practice at this time is 12 and up.

My passion is to work with those who are experiencing symptoms of ADHD, anxiety, and trauma. Maybe it’s that you struggle remembering things or feel you should be able to do more. Maybe you feel a pressure to keep pushing and achieving to a higher level. You can’t quite seem to say no to everything, so your schedule is full and there’s no room to breathe. Things keep feeling heavier and heavier. We all need some extra help to organize and unravel our stories. I’m here to help you navigate the overwhelming emotions and burdens you find you’ve picked up along the way. Together, we can dig as deeply as you choose.

I love joining with families and children who are facing behavioral challenges and helping them to grieve, problem-solve, and begin enjoying each other again. Do you feel stuck in patterns you can’t control? Like feelings show up in ways you can’t think yourself out of? As a trauma therapist, I believe that our bodies and nervous systems are home to memories that continue to impact us in our day-to-day lives. We may still have parts of us that stay in high-alert, ruminating and planning. Or we may have parts that rage, shut down, numb-out, or freeze. In therapy, we learn to honor these patterns and appreciate their service to us. We also work on building a nurturing relationship with our inner child parts, providing them with care and kindly asking for the breath of space.

It isn't easy to ask for help. It’s easy to get discouraged in life, and in relationships. It’s hard to break patterns that keep us stuck and to move past the pain and anxieties we face. With an integrative approach to therapy, I help clients break destructive patterns, heal wounds, develop better coping strategies, improve relational skills, and gain richer understanding of themselves and others. The common challenges I work with include: sexual intimacy. codependency, anxiety, infidelity, loss, personality growth, trauma, family conflict, parenting, eating disorders, spiritual abuse and Christian spiritual direction.

Welcome. Whether you are struggling in your relationship or are tired of feeling anxious and depressed, I can help you connect with yourself, and in turn with others, in a new way toward feeling better soon. I honor and respect everything within you, in the midst of your search and struggle, which has brought you here. I really get how lonely, desperate, hopeless feeling or even numbing, that struggle can be. I have an MA in Integral Counseling Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies in San Francisco — the first program in the world to blend Western schools of psychology with Eastern spiritual traditions.

Anger Management Therapists

How long does therapy take for anger management?

Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.

How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?

Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.

Is there medication for anger management?

Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.

What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
