Additionally, I have specialized training in trauma treatment, including single episodic trauma as well as prolonged exposure to trauma resulting from emotional, physical, and sexual abuse.
I believe that genuine growth occurs within the context of a safe, nurturing, and at times gently challenging relationship. I desire to integrate issues of mind and body while helping individuals access their resiliency that resides within. I describe my therapeutic style as collaborative and relational, believing that we all grow best in community and in relationship with others. Ultimately, I hope to cultivate an atmosphere where clients feel accepted both for their strengths and areas of growth.

One of the most difficult challenges we face as parents is watching your child struggle and not knowing how to help. Parents look for a therapist to help their child overcome trauma, aggression, impulsive behaviors, anxiety, and low self esteem. Developing a strong therapeutic relationship provides the safety and connection that is key for therapy to be helpful. It is the foundation from which to explore and understand your feelings and experiences. I am active and collaborative in listening, inquiring, and guiding your child and family. I want to help you and your family overcome the challenges and struggles that life brings.

I specialize in processing trauma through techniques such as EMDR & Somatic Experiencing - with special interests pertaining to female empowerment, maternal well-being, couples, & parenting struggles.
Life's challenges can lead us to a place where recognizing the person in the mirror becomes foreign. The fights with your partner, the fear of the future, or desiring a sense of direction and meaningful connection can leave us feeling frozen, overwhelmed, and distanced from where we’d like to be. Your unique experience matters - which is why I work to foster empathy, openness, authenticity, safety, and caring challenges within therapy - to meet you where you are and journey beside you as you seek to find yourself and your relationships again.

I enjoy working with clients to clear past trauma or current blocks and assimilate the gifts that they discover within the process of unlocking habitual patterns and rejecting internal lies. I use mindful practice to support clients as they learn to become less judgmental of themselves and others and more compassionate. I believe that within this spaciousness we are able to open up into more of our true selves so that we have more insight and a broader view of our experiences. I see this as a creative, healing process.

Having someone to empathically hold your experiences and emotionally vulnerable or conflicted state while also facilitating the healing and growth you are capable of, is comforting and empowering. Allow me the privilege of partnering with you in developing and experiencing a practical, personally meaningful, trauma and culturally informed journey to improved mental-emotional health, wellness, and completeness.

Some of the issues I specialize in are trauma, eating disorder, depression, anxiety, sexuality issues, life transitions, relationship issues, and identity.
Stressed? Tired? Can’t seem to get ahead? Don't like yourself? Finding that sense of security and strength in the midst of changes, challenges, and relationships is difficult, and some feel that taking time to stop and reflect is impossible; yet often it is one of the most important steps in moving forward or getting unstuck. Stopping and working with a trained therapist can help facilitate change in meaningful and impactful ways. It can also help avoid a complete life derailment. I believe that the work I do with my clients is sacred, which is why I employee some of the most up to date and clinically validated treatment techniques.

I am a certified eating disorder specialist, and have special interest working with eating disorders, body image, self-harm, bereavement, women's issues, healthcare professionals, and trauma.
As a counselor, I believe that no person is beyond helping, regardless of prior therapy experience, life history, or their current situation. I provide a safe and welcoming environment in which people are able to talk without fear of judgment, and can feel heard and validated. I believe in treating the roots of the issues, rather than providing Band-Aids for symptoms, and am passionate about empowering individuals to recognize their own strengths and abilities. I provide therapy from an interpersonal perspective, in which I believe relationship is the catalyst for healing.

I help adults 18+ with low self-esteem, Imposter syndrome, complex trauma, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorders, codependency, grief, adjustment issues, resilience development, and emotional regulation.
"Life be lif-ing" is the statement that comes to mind when I think about the ups and downs, we experience in our lifetime. Many of us can relate to the overwhelming feelings of sadness or the constant feeling of anxiety. With life can come trauma and pain, which can cause anger, bitterness, and an array of different emotions. You may even think to yourself, "I'm not good enough," "Something is wrong with me," or "I can't do hard things?" As a trauma-informed therapist who utilizes a mix of CBT and EMDR, I target these beliefs and feelings and provide various coping tools to help clients grow and be their best selves.

With a Certificate in Complex Trauma and Dissociation as well as additional training in sex therapy I am prepared to build relationships with clients who have experienced various traumatic events, whether that be a car accident or sexual abuse.
"There is nothing wrong with you. There is something wrong with what happened to you." The ways we are treated by others can convince us that there is something inherently wrong with who we are. Trauma and negative life experiences teach us what to believe about ourselves and the world around us, but sometimes they inform us inaccurately. Whether you've experienced abuse, difficult relationships, loss, or grief, I would love the opportunity to join you as you rediscover who you are and walk into healing and wholeness.

I have a MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, along with a Graduate Certificate in Marriage and Family Therapy and Trauma Counseling from Richmont Graduate University.
I believe that people make sense within their context. And so, I am mindful of context - cultural background, attachment style, family and relationship history, etc. I enjoy the process of listening and attending, especially to those whose voices may feel unheard, such as teens, women, and trauma survivors. My work is informed by an integrative and embodied approach, utilizing various family system theories and trauma-informed interventions. Through establishing a sound therapeutic relationship and safe environment, I am hopeful that your difficult emotions will "make sense," and a story of resilience and compassion will be heard.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
