However, I often draw on person-centered, trauma focused, feminist, and narrative techniques as I am passionate about helping my clients recognize they are so much more than their struggles, while also empowering them to feel in control of their own life.
Being a human in today's world is extremely hard, but as Danielle Doby wrote "none of this was meant to be done alone." Seeking help is among the most brave and important things we can do for ourselves. I specialize in helping young adults and adults navigate struggles related to trauma or PTSD, depression, suicidal ideation, self-harm, life transitions and women's issues. We all experience hardship at some point in our lives, but I am here to walk with you through it, so you don't have to do it alone.

I tailor therapy according to your needs, but draw significantly from humanistic, emotion-focused, experiential, feminist, and interpersonal approaches.
Everyone wants to be themselves, to be “seen,” and to be valued for their uniqueness. We’re wired to need safe and affirming relationships and connection with others. When we’re struggling, it’s usually because something has gotten in the way of these things - not because we’re somehow "defective" or "flawed." I value authenticity, and strive to help clients feel and honor emotions that may seem “wrong" or unacceptable.

In my work with clients, I utilize modalities such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS), Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic and Feminist theory.
I specialize in helping individuals who are experiencing the impacts of past traumas, relationship concerns & feel like they’re “never enough” to develop a greater sense of connection towards yourself, become more attuned to your needs, and gain skills to regulate your nervous system. Typically, I find myself working with clients who may consider themselves perfectionistic, high-achieving, and/or people-pleasing. I also enjoy working with individuals who are looking to heal from the impacts of attachment wounds, as well as concerns related to anxiety, depression, identity exploration, self-compassion & life transitions.

I have worked with individuals and couples for over forty years, helping them to capitalize on their strengths rather than focusing on their problems. I see my role as a co-participant with clients in the therapy process. I seek to enable individuals and couples to develop their inner resources with understanding and caring support. In such a setting, my clients gain the strength and freedom to solve or manage their problems in creative ways.

Finally! You are here! Welcome to the therapy space that you have been tirelessly looking for through the sea of profiles. Sometimes it takes a bit of work to find what you are looking for, and that's okay. What matters is that you managed to find a place to rest for a while. You may be asking, “alright alright enough rest. How can you help me? Are you cool/funny?” My answer to those questions is yes. I am very cool and funny, thank you for asking! And most importantly, yes. Yes, I can help you.

Learn to trust yourself, your body, and your intuition, using parts work, energy work, and trauma work to move through the stuckness holding you back. This work is done oh, so gently and lovingly, and I believe this is the only way truly to go as deep in healing as we need. Reverent, consensual, trauma-informed, and non-pathologizing. You'll use mind-body, mindfulness, and energy work to get through the hard stuff so you can live the life you love and actually align with. (We do what's safe for *you* and sometimes that means avoiding meditation stuff.) Everything changes when you don't have to constantly second-guess yourself.

Feminist Therapists
How does feminist therapy work?
Feminist therapy sessions are not only personal but often cultural or political in nature, as the approach is based on the belief that people are affected by, and often struggle with, cultural and societal norms and biases, and need to move beyond those external pressures or stressors to tap their own confidence and engage more fully in their own identity. Sessions may therefore include discussions of sexism, diversity, and gender issues and talk of steps toward greater empowerment for patients who believe they have been silenced and seek to raise their voices.
What are examples of feminist therapy techniques?
Along with traditional talk therapy and analysis, a feminist therapist may employ techniques such as role-playing and assertiveness training to help clients build their self-esteem so that they feel they can act freely, and not based on cultural expectations or gender roles dictated by others. A feminist therapist may also engage in bibliotherapy, offering suggested readings on gender identity or social power inequities as they work toward viewing mental-health concerns through a broad cultural lens before focusing on how they affect the individual. Somatic therapy techniques, with an emphasis on body awareness, self-compassion, and mindfulness practices are also often part of feminist therapist practice.
How long does feminist therapy last?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for feminist therapy; people who believe that they are making progress typically continue until they feel they’ve addressed the issues that had been holding them back. It may take some time to become comfortable discussing personal issues, but once a client feels they can do so, they could expect therapy to last for a number of months, typically including at least 12 sessions.
Does feminist therapy work?
As a relatively recent therapeutic technique, there is not yet a body of evidence proving the efficacy of feminist therapy. However, the approach is based on proven core principles of talk therapy, with a particular emphasis on developing a therapeutic relationship based on equality and authentic connection between therapist and client and discovering and building on clients’ personal strengths to help them gain a greater sense of personal power and agency.
