In addition to talk-therapy, I implement games, puzzles, stories, music, art, and toys into therapy. Therapy should not be boring! My areas of working with clients include, but are not limited to: depression, anxiety, ADHD, ODD, social skills, anger management, self-harm, suicidal ideation, low self-esteem, abuse, and trauma. My main modalities include TF-CBT, CBT, EMDR and behavior modification.

David Cowart is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Tennessee who has been practicing since 2016. David believes good therapy is built on a strong, empathic relationship with the client. You are the expert in your life and experiences. David’s goal is to come alongside you and help you understand the story you have been living. We all have basic needs in our lives. When those needs go unmet, we experience pain. We then develop ways of coping with that pain. This is how David makes sense of a client’s symptoms and struggles.

To begin, Distance Counseling is offered for clients who cannot make face to face sessions. I believe barriers seldom produce opportunities for change. Those methods sound enticing. Yet, they operate from the focus of a proprietor. Another clinician may indicate the best suited clients are willing and committed.
