I work in a private practice setting providing treatment for anxiety, depression, life transitions, and trauma.
Have stressful life events left you feeling tired, anxious, or overwhelmed? Have you tried to make changes, but nothing seems to work? We all experience stress in our lives, but sometimes it can be too much for one person to take on. Yet seeking out therapy and choosing a therapist can seem just as scary or daunting. My name is Jennifer and I have a masters degree in mental health counseling. My goal is to create a safe environment for clients to make sense of what is happening in their life. I will also work to provide you with tools to help cope with life's hardships.

The problematic areas I treat often are categorized as depression, anxiety, stress, bipolar, addiction, codependency, and trauma.
Life can be difficult and challenging. We are often taught and develop maladaptive ways of coping just to get by. At some point in our life we could benefit from education and guidance on how to make improvements leading to a healthier more fulfilling life. That is the goal in therapy: to foster healing that leads to balance in one’s physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health. This may look different for each client. Some people need to simply be heard, others need to learn and make changes in their present life, and others need to process pain from their past that is still affecting them today.

I am trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Aggression Replacement Training (ART), Collaborative Problem Solving (CPS), and The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (ACRA).
Life can be incredibly complicated and challenging leaving individuals feeling helpless and isolated. Often, we learn maladaptive ways of coping these feelings which often leads to living a life of survival, as opposed to a healthy, fulfilling life. My goal for my clients is to achieve ultimate potential through creating balance among physical, mental, and emotional needs. I provide an empathetic, safe, non-judgmental environment to allow personal reflection, healing and growth.

TRAUMA: An overwhelming experience that is too much, too fast. If too stressed or truly overwhelmed, our natural survival responses can be blocked. If unable to complete our body’s survival responses, trauma can occur and often symptoms emerge. We can feel stuck in the fear of flight, the anger of fight or the depression of freeze. As one who facilitates healing from emotional, spiritual, and physical pain and suffering, I am dedicated to working compassionately, non-judgmentally and collaboratively with you to become "unstuck" and find a greater sense of healing and wholeness.

Navigating stress, grief and loss, trauma, and/or shame isn't easy, but IT IS POSSIBLE when you have someone to support you throughout the journey.
Are you (or your child or adolescent) feeling irritable or tired? Are you having trouble sleeping, concentrating, or simply making it through each day? Perhaps those in your household are wrestling with feelings of anger, sadness, anxiety, or social isolation. First and foremost, you aren't alone. And believe it or not, what you or your family members are struggling with may be rooted in grief and loss, trauma, or even shame. Environmental stress, the death of a loved one, changes in physical health, divorce or relationship loss, and day-to-day life transitions can thrust anyone into an emotional and physical tailspin.

Acknowledging the need for help can sometimes be a difficult first step, but carrying all of life's problems alone can be brutal and isolating. I provide a safe place for individuals, families, parents and couples to navigate effectively through the many obstacles we face on life's journey. My goal is to provide a warm and accepting environment for individuals to explore feelings, behaviors and life experiences that may allow for personal reflection and growth.

We want to know you and want you to know that when you trust us for your care, you will receive affirming, inclusive, and compassionate care from trauma-informed clinicians who desire your best and will honor your fullest expression of your humanity.
Being seen and heard are gifts that a lot of us have not consistently received throughout our lives. Our humanity requires these gifts to experience fullness, wholeness, and a steady sense of self. Ruptures and traumas with society, with others, and with ourselves can be experienced as a result of not being experienced as our full selves or when we are reduced to attributes, parts, or fragments rather than as fully human. At times, we can even begin to believe that this is all we are worth or engage in scrambling to live a life of scarcity not believing we deserve a life of abundance. Our life force, though, knows that we need more.

I work with individuals 18 years and older experiencing depression, anxiety, grief and loss, divorce, stress, trauma, and life issues.
Life does not always come easy and can present us with very difficult challenges. These challenges impact our lives and often cause us to feel alone, ashamed, afraid, inadequate, overwhelmed and lead to isolation, withdrawal, risky behaviors, and decreased functioning in social, work, or other areas of life. Unfortunately, in our struggle to cope, our emotional and mental health needs have often been minimized, pushed down, or completely ignored. Therapy often helps us navigate these challenging times and attain more fulfilling lives.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
