I believe it is important for individuals who are struggling with difficult choices to be allowed to take the time to explore how they have arrived at their current impasse. Individuals frequently have difficulty with avoidance and procrastination which can lead to frustration and emotional fatigue. This can drain away creative energy needed for change to occur. Every individual is capable of emotional growth if they can give themselves permission to examine old defenses and unproductive patterns of behavior. Insight into these psychological habits can lead to more alternatives regarding future choices and decisions.
With more than 30 years of experience I have developed an approach to therapy that can make it an enjoyable and productive process. I view my relationship with my clients as a collaborative effort and particularly enjoy helping individuals to reach their potential in their relationships and careers.
I am a licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and Psychologist. I have been an instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School and a Clinical Associate in Psychiatry and Psychology at Massachusetts General Hospital. I have had extensive training in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy.
