| español Hi! Welcome to The Urban Counselor LLC! This practice was birthed during the Pandemic with the intentions of supporting individuals through a globally traumatic time, and I have since expanded my trauma skill set and knowledge to support environmental and complex trauma. I identify as a Heterosexual, Cisgender, African-American female. The Urban Counselor specializes in cultural trauma for marginalized communities, and the mental health challenges therein. We look forward to introducing & offering indigenous/alternative healing practices as we grow!
The Urban Counselor provides typical talk therapy with a focus on the use of self and the clinical relationship to address maladaptive or ineffective relationship and interpersonal patterns (also known as Relational Therapy). We also offer EMDR therapy to assist with trauma memory reprocessing as well as a DBT, CBT, ACT, and other non traditional practices.
If you find building and maintaining relationships difficult, or struggle with vulnerability, Relational Therapy may be the approach for you! If you have ever felt alone/disconnected from others, confusion around relationships, poor self-worth, social anxiety, dis-ease, or unlovable, exploring any past traumas and relational patterns could help. So Call Us!
