Jameela Muhammad owner of The Melanated Therapist is designed for those seeking to rebuild and heal from interpersonal and generational trauma. A focus on Black and Brown adolescents and adults struggling with stress, trauma, interpersonal relationships and life transitions. I hope to engage with individuals to build self-love, empathy and compassion for self, as well as teaching coping strategies to work through obstacles in a holistic and goal oriented way.
Committed to creating a safe and therapeutic space where people of color are able to break generational patterns of stress and trauma related to unhealthy relationships, societal norms and habits. Refocus and incorporate healthy coping strategies and develop a capacity to be empathetic and feel empowered to live and be vulnerable in a safe space.
Utilizing a person centered and holistic approach while adapting and incorporating new techniques as needed. I am passionate about normalizing mental health for people of color and do not believe therapy needs to be clinical, but a real conversation between individuals through a collaborative approach.
