| español I always knew that I wanted to be a healer. The best description of what I do after 30 years of success is that I am a stress management expert for ages 2 and up. After training together in individual, family, and Child Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) my mother and I founded The Hamilton Practice in 1995. Working with survivors of childhood trauma and sexual abuse in Harlem for a combined seventeen years, we were stunned by the miracles that unfolded as we applied the power of connection and support. My mom left her body in 2021, so you will see only me when we meet, but you will be benefiting from the synergy of two generations.
In working with children, adolescents, and adults, I create an emotionally supportive therapeutic atmosphere with clear, consistent boundaries that help the client get to the core of the problem and achieve mastery. Mastery means breakthroughs such that the client feels in control of or is no longer threatened by what were once paralyzing obstacles.
It is a dream come true for me to be able to work with clients in Spanish which includes the challenge of engaging adolescents in family therapy who often respond to their parents in English. In the spirit of transparency, I share that I am of Indian and English descent and that I had a third parent who trained me well... a Jewish stepfather.
