I am an ally for the LGBTQIA+ community and a strong supporter of equality in all of its aspects. I believe everyone is a person, and every person needs to be cared for, validated, and supported throughout whatever they are facing in their life. My preference is to focus on the LGBTQIA+ population, mainly because I do not think there is enough allies in the counseling field that have this preference in populations. My goal, is to be a support and assist clients to enable them to make positive changes in their lives. I want them to feel heard and respected, regardless of the issue or struggle they are facing.

DONALD LEE, earned his B.A. from Brandeis University. He earned his M.A., M.Ed., and Ed.D. in counseling psychology from Columbia University. He is also a Licensed Professional Counselor. He provides individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, and adults, as well as, providing marital and family therapy. He treats individuals with anxiety, depression, ADHD, substance/alcohol abuse, and adjustment issues. Dr. Lee has taught courses in individual therapy, group counseling, and racial-cultural counseling at the graduate level. His clinical experiences have involved work with the chronically mentally ill, victims of trauma, and has consulted at agencies working with victims of domestic violence.

My practice is primarily family therapy where multiple family members participate. The majority of the families I work with have at least one, if not many, of the following diagnoses: AD/HD, oppositional defiant disorder, selective mutism, learning disorders (dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, pragmatic communication, etc), social communication disorder, autism, anxiety, depression, OCD, PTSD, and/or bipolar disorder. I actively use Accelerated Resolution Therapy(ART) to help people gain relief from trauma and persistent unwanted thoughts. I also offer comprehensive reports for social security applications.

My graduate coursework, coupled with my responsibilities as a school counselor, has provided me with experience in both individual and group counseling to facilitate personal, social-emotional, and behavioral development for adolescents and young adults. My experience has focused on stress, anxiety, depression, behavior concerns, crisis management, self-esteem, conflict resolution, substance abuse prevention and intervention, and racial literacy. I have a knack for helping people get "unstuck" after becoming immobilized or discouraged in therapy, perplexed about with decision-making, or in the tough situations life brings us. I have had good success with clients with residual symptoms from PTSD, and helping patients manage the intersection between chronic pain and PTSD. I have worked with clients and families adjusting to disabilities/chronic medical conditions, addressing mood symptoms, trauma symptoms, anger, grief, couples, family parenting, & divorce, for school age children through older adults. Clients actively engaging in therapy report progress within 2-3 sessions.
