My work with children and their parents is purposed to empower their family by learning effective communication techniques, creating appropriate boundaries within the framework of their family, as well as helping parents gain tools to help them in parenting their children.

I have the honor of walking alongside brave and courageous individuals and couples as they strive to become better than they are, overcome what they feel overwhelmed by, become who they dare dream of becoming, and love beyond themselves through the transformative power of love and forgiveness. I hold both a doctorate and masters degree in marriage and family therapy and have a private marriage and family therapy practice in Houston Texas specializing in marriage and sex therapy, trauma and depression. I also serve as the clinical director for a non-profit counseling organization providing affordable therapy to the community.

All individuals experience struggles or crisis at some point in their lives. As an experienced licensed psychologist, I am committed to helping my clients overcome obstacles and meet goals that will lead to lasting and meaningful changes in their lives. It is difficult being a child, teen and young adult experiencing trauma, divorce, depression, anxiety, behavioral concerns, or just trying to figure out your identity. As a counselor, it’s important to get the professional help you need during traumatic life events, life stressors, or even self-acceptance. We will work together to find solutions, develop realistic goals, and work through the underlying issues through therapy.

I provide play therapy services to children under eight, with a specialization in children three to six. Play therapy is to children what counseling is to adults. If you are concerned about your child's behavior, developmental challenges, or disruptions in the parent- child relationship, play therapy is the recommended approach to help your child. I also offer a variety of services to enhance the parent-child dynamic including expressive art therapy, sand tray, behavioral consultation and family therapy. No matter the issue I will offer encouragement and support in an accepting environment.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor and Registered Play Therapist Supervisor. I hold a Doctoral degree in Community Care and Counseling with an emphasis on Marriage and Family Counseling and a Master of Arts degree in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. My certifications include Play Therapy, Clinical ADHD Specialist, Certified Anger Management Specialist, and Certified Infant Massage Specialist.

You may be nervous just thinking about starting the therapy process. So here's a little bit about how I do therapy. I specialize in Christian counseling and play therapy, as well as using expressive/sandtray therapy in sessions. What does this mean? It means that I believe it's super helpful to use many things within the therapy context. The image of sitting on a couch talking is not the only way counseling services are provided. Therapy can include using your faith to understand how to do things differently. It can also include using forms of creativity (art, sandtray) to identify points of being stuck and find new ways to heal!

I am committed to helping people move through the trauma that has been, or continues to be in their lives. I believe that a genuine empathetic attitude from me to my clients is the most important thing I can do as a therapist. I use several modalities in my client centered therapeutic approach. I work with adults, adolescents, and children with a wide range of problems such as depression, anxiety, and trauma. I am Attachment Focused EMDR trained and I believe that this is an extremely successful way to relieve some of the symptoms associated with PTSD, Depression, Anxiety and disturbances associated with trauma.

I treat a wide range of behavioral, emotional, and psychological problems, working with all ages - individuals, couples, and families. I have helped developmentally delayed children and their families, as well as troubled teenagers in need of residential treatment. I participated in research regarding successful parenting practices, and have facilitated positive change in some children by working just with the parents.

I work with children and adults wih a variety of issues that affect their lives and impact the family. I help adults with depression, anxiety and stress related issues. I am very person centered and work with each person on individual goals. I have also worked with children with developmental issues as young as 2 years of age as well as children in CPS and foster care. I am certified as a child centered play therapist and am trained in Trauma Focused CBT in order to help children dealing with different types of trauma. I am also experienced in working with teens that have self harm issues, are exhibiting depression or anxiety.
