My practice focuses on treating children and teens with depression, anxiety, attachment issues, eating disorders, substance abuse, attention deficit hyperactivity, and behavioral disorders. Play therapy is my primary tool to help children cope with issues as they grow and develop. Although the child is my client, I work to provide education and support to parents, as the child's primary support system.

Counseling has been Jillissa's passion for years. She specializes in, but is not limited to, issues including: marriage and family, relationship dynamics, boundary issues, adolescent and children's issues, and woman's issues such as eating disorders, depression, anger, anxiety, divorce care, singleness, grief, bitterness, identity and significance issues and mood disorders. She also works with clients struggling with anxiety disorders including Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Adjustment Disorders. Jillissa's philosophy of counseling is the integration of Christianity and psychology, and her counseling methods include: Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems Theory, Psychoeducation, and Child Play Therapy.

And when we experience various traumas/stressors in our life, we can internalize them and believe unhealthy narratives about ourself and the world. While learning coping skills/practical tools are important, I have learned that working through the core/root issues are where long-lasting healing takes place.

When your children are experiencing problems, it impacts the whole family! I have a passion for helping children and parents work through their problems to come to a happier and healthier place. I can help with a wide range of behavioral and emotional concerns that you may have for your child or teen. Each child is unique, and I use a variety of techniques that are modified to fit your child’s needs including play therapy, expressive arts, games, activities, and talk therapy. I will also work with you as a parent in learning how to respond to your child’s feelings and behaviors in the most effective and healthy ways.

Being a teenager or young adult has always been difficult, but recently it seems impossible to emerge from adolescence with a stable self-esteem, healthy peer relationships, and long-term goals. I assure you it is possible - some of us just need additional support. Over my last 3 years working with teen and young adult clients, I've met with students in middle and elementary schools struggling with general anxiety to self-harming behaviors. I strive to provide a safe and nonjudgmental space for every client so that they feel seen, heard, and capable to become the kind of person they want to be.

It takes strength and courage to accept when one can't handle parts of life, and so, I commend you. As a therapist, I accompany clients exactly where they are while offering unconditional acceptance and respect without judgement to build a safe and inviting counseling environment. My focus is working with those with childhood trauma, chronic suicidal ideation, relationship dysfunction, and chronic illnesses. I've been honored to have clinical experience working with combat veterans and their spouses, first responders, teen survivors of sex trafficking, and victims of childhood abuse. In addition to providing virtual therapy, I work in the Mental Health department at a county jail.

Affectionately called "a mender of people," Mendy Landreth uses her compassion and empathy to bring healing to individuals and families with various needs. Her extensive training as a Registered Play Therapist has been the backbone of her powerful work with children and has made her more attuned to adolescent and adult clients as well. Mendy utilizes sandtray therapy and other expressive art activities with interested clients of all ages. As a Certified Child-Parent Relationship Therapist, Mendy has successfully trained parents, grandparents, and other counselors with practical tools that reduce conflict and increase family unity.
