Teri’s theoretical orientation is primarily based on CBT, solution focused interventions, and a 12 step model of addiction. She also uses expressive arts to help clients work through their feelings and thoughts in a different way when conversation reaches a “stuck” point and talk therapy is not enough. It is my belief that events happen in patterns - some healthy, some unhealthy. As we explore the presenting problem, I help my clients to recognize and explore patterns. Between sessions, I assign homework that includes journaling & worksheets exploring automatic thoughts.
Exploring and setting up boundaries is a major aspect of my practice. Combining this with messages enhances my work with life transitions. High school and college is not the only time of life transitions. Through the aging process, life happens and I am here to guide and navigate solutions.
