My name is Teresa Maguire, and I have been a psychotherapist (LCSW-R) for 25 years. I work primarily with adults dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, gender identity concerns, relationship problems, and LGBTQ issues. I work mainly from a psychodynamic and relational model, utilizing Attachment-based, Eclectic, Psychodynamic, Person-Centered, and Trauma Focused therapies. I believe those therapeutic relationships are the most important vehicle for facilitating positive change and growth.
I work to create a safe and caring environment where you can feel heard and validated. You will set the pace of the work, and I will meet you where you are. You should feel comfortable bringing your true self to sessions without fearing judgment. All your feelings are welcome and will be examined/explored together.
During the first session, you should expect to be put at ease, to be able to express yourself to whatever extent you are comfortable. We will get to know each other better and see if we are a good fit for each other.
