My specialty is focused on helping individuals who struggle with anxiety disorders by targeting the somatic symptoms, irrational thoughts, and behavioral patterns keeping them from growing into their best versions of themselves. I also specialize in helping women struggling after traumatic experiences, navigating difficult life transitions, and healing after relationship conflicts. You do not need to navigate these difficulties on your own, and I am here to walk alongside you on your healing journey by empowering you to find meaning in your hardships and overcome the challenges that life has thrown in your path.

I have a passion to help people find hope and healing through their difficult times in life. I want people to know that they are not alone, as well as to feel like they are heard and can be understood. I like to work from a holistic point of view by incorporating your mind, body and soul into the healing process. I want to help people take back control over their thoughts and help them to express themselves in a safe environment. I want to help people learn to love themselves again and feel a connection from the healing process. I believe that we were made to grow in life by working together and learning from one another.

I have a passion for helping individuals and families who deal with depression, anxiety, behavior issues, and many other mental health concerns. I work with teenage males, men and woman to help them reach their goals. I have had success working parents of male teenagers, who are navigating behavior issues, educational hurdles and helping families navigate the teenage years.

Real genuine concern and support is essential these days as we all face new difficulties and unforeseen change. Uncertainty is often a part of feeling anxiety and it helps to have someone in your corner collaborating with you to manage your specific challenges. Having a counselor in your life does not have to be interpreted as a bad thing. It can be part of the solution! Let me assist you in finding answers and creating meaningful change.

I currently have a long waitlist! I understand the concern and confusion that parents may have when their child experiences difficulties in school, home, or elsewhere. I believe in working together with parents to help their children. I take time to get to know my clients so I can offer the most appropriate, individualized care for them. I trained in educational and behavioral psychology and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy. In addition to direct treatment services, I am able to provide evaluations with extensive reports to aid in treatment planning.

April Garner is a licensed clinical social worker in both Tennessee, Mississippi, and Arkansas as well as a certified sex therapist through the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT). She graduated from the University of Tennessee with a masters degree in clinical social work in 2008. She went on to pursue a masters of education and a Ph.D. in human sexuality from Widener University.

I have spent over 25 years working with children, first as a teacher, and for eight years as a mental health counselor. I am passionate about helping children learn to manage their emotions and build self-confidence. My job is to help children and families meet their goals so they no longer need ongoing therapy.
