There is a lot of "noise" in the world today; so much to sift through, including these profiles of many therapists to decide who is worth your energy in contacting. My goal is to break through the "noise" and authentically explore your experiences, growth, and distress. My work has included helping those experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD (e.g., sexual assault, military/combat trauma), life transitions, and work/life/school stress. I have been trained in working from a multicultural perspective working with various identity considerations and related stress including w LGBTQIA+, college students, veterans, and other populations.

C.S. Lewis wrote "You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." Research shows that over time, we come to regret inaction more than we regret any action...What is holding you back from starting where you are to work toward a different ending? I work to help my clients process relationship difficulties, re-parenting and inner child work, processing of grief and/or trauma, parenting issues, and assist with skill building for neurocognitive disorders. We are created for connection, and I work to provide a space for each of my clients to heal and re-connect.

A major thread in Ashley’s work has been care for families. Having worked in volunteer and professional capacities with children and families for more than 17 years and as a mother of three young children, Ashley has found herself with a deep care for helping people find their own healing to stop cycles of toxic stress. When children or teens feel out of control or parents feel overwhelmed, working through issues that require learning how to emotionally regulate (i.e. trauma, stress, anxiety, depression, ADD, or OCD) can lead to healing that improves one’s ability to securely connect in relationships.

Healing happens when we attend to our attachment wounds, address our inner parts' needs, and adopt healthy communication patterns and boundaries. When we feel heard in safe spaces, we can begin to unpack our hurts, explore our needs, and express our feelings. I utilize an integrative and supportive approach to honor clients' stories and needs, establish and reignite meaningful relationships, and practice mindful emotional expression. My goal is to support clients as they process past memories, enhance present connections, and plan for the future.

Having been in the field for a decade, I enjoy working with a wide variety of clients and have a passion for people in the midst of life transitions such as shifting relationships, career change, and health issues. Most importantly, I desire to walk with my clients into the depths of their hearts and to help awaken them to their inherent worth. I believe the counseling process is an art and I consider it a privilege to walk with my clients toward healing.

I want to hear your story. Our stories make us who we are. These stories are forever changing as we move through the world. None of our stories are perfect. Truth is, some of our stories leave us feeling weary, as a therapist, I want to encounter you where you need the most support in your story. Everyone has a story that includes a past, present and a future. And every pain, and every instance of trauma, has history within us and that history cannot be changed. But we can decide to move forward from those hurts and not relive that chapter in our book. We can’t erase it, but we can fold the page down and decide to heal and move on.

My clients come with many questions: "Why can't I stop this behavior?" "Why are we stuck in this vicious cycle of fighting?" "How can I help him/her?" Everyone gets stuck at times. We get stuck with our own bad habits, wondering why willpower doesn't ever seem to be enough to improve. We get stuck with our romantic partners, trying desperately to get back to the time we felt that deep love and joy together. We get stuck with our families, working to so hard to help our loved ones feel happy and safe at home. Sometimes we do our best, and it just doesn't seem to work.

Because we live in a broken world, we all experience trauma on some level (even if it doesn't "look" like trauma). If trauma has taken root, it residually shows up in our relationships with ourselves and others, dictates our perceptions & behaviors, and can even trap us into our own self-sustained mental prison. The question is not "what's wrong with you?", but instead "what happened to you?" I would be honored to hear your story & provide a safe space for you to unpack with no judgement. I am well-versed in Narrative Therapy, taking the stance that you are the expert on yourself.

Are you constantly contradicting yourself? A part of you wants to grow and transform into your “true” self, but then you feel as though you are self-sabotaging again. You question how you can work on yourself when you are the one preventing the growth. Pablo Neruda’s poem "We Are Many" describes the internal conflict that many of us feel. As a psychotherapist, I noticed that my clients needed something more than just traditional talk therapy. This realization led me to become a Certified Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapist to help people “befriend” the internal conflict and embrace it with love and compassion.

Unbearable emotional and somatic states, relationship problems, identity crises, difficult life transitions, losses, grief, and trauma are some of the many experiences that plague us and make life hard. While suffering is a natural part of life, it is understandable to want to move away from it. However, it is when we give our suffering a voice that healing can begin.
