I came into this work through my own experiences with both trauma and healing. By engaging in therapy, I began to experience the freedom and hope that came with facing and owning all the parts of my story rather than living within the context of fear and survival strategies that no longer served me. I would be honored to offer support and walk alongside you as you develop understanding and self-compassion, and seek to experience the discovery of freedom and hope for yourself.
I work from a psychodynamic perspective, which means that I believe that pain and dissonance happen in the context of relationship and, thus, heal in the context of relationship. I also utilize EMDR to help you integrate your experiences and emotions within your mind and body as well as to process through hurts and painful beliefs.
Trauma can come in a lot different packages but it is not so much the details of the story that define it, but the way it continues to impact your quality of life, relationship to self and others, behaviors, and feelings. The counseling relationship will provide a space of safety and support for you to explore the present impact of past experiences.
