My goal as a counselor is to help clients UNLEARN how to be their own worst enemies. Perhaps they're inflexible and always want things their way, leading to strained relationships with family and friends. Or they worry so much that it doesn't seem like they are fully living life anymore. Maybe their self esteem is so low, they've lost sight of what makes them a beautiful being. I aim to meet a client where they are and understand how they view both themselves and the world. Then can change begin to occur.
I help clients learn to better understand themselves and introduce skills that can help them cope with the uncomfortable thoughts and feelings they experience. By being person-centered, I invite clients to share what's on their "agenda" for the session and pull from other modalities such as CBT and DBT when applicable.
