My goal is to form a counseling relationship that represents a "team effort" in which the counselor and client will work together in order to target the current issue(s), set achievable goals, and develop steps that will enable the desired outcome.
My approach utilizes aspects of person-centered and trauma focused therapy to establish trust and genuineness. I also focus on personal empowerment and ability to make changes to establish new behaviors through exploration of personal readiness for change, individual choices and relationships.
The counseling relationship is one that I feel is maintained based on trust that forms and continues to strengthen. Trust enables the counseling environment to reflect safety, genuineness and respect as you, the client, communicate your thoughts, feelings, and experiences.
