Teens and young adults trying to find their way in the world are under great pressure these days. I specialize in the transition from the last few years of high school to whatever comes next, and post-college transitions. Those on a creative path may also resonate with my approach. I work with adults in life transitions, anyone struggling with relationships, uncertain of the rules for healthy versus unhealthy dynamics, anxiety, depression, grief/loss, or existential issues. You may feel alienated, unmotivated, or have uncertain goals. Your thought patterns might seem circular, overly critical, or just unhelpful.
As a Licensed Professional Counselor with over twenty years of experience working with adolescents, I served in a wide range of academic environments including universities, as a professor and counselor, in nonprofits, and as a teacher in a performing arts high school. I also love working with adults, e.g. midlife, work, or retirement transitions.
As a trauma-informed therapist, I incorporate my three main areas of experience: education, the arts, and mental health, into a complimentary treatment approach. Focus areas include empowerment, compassion, mindful support and coping skills for academic issues like perfectionism, lack of engagement, social anxiety, and relationships.
