Tahoe Youth and Family Services (TYFS) provides counseling and support programs to promote healthy development of families, children and individuals. We envision resilient communities that achieve healthy outcomes through affordable behavioral services. We have a proud 50-year tradition of providing mental health & substance abuse services to our community and surrounding areas. We are an inclusive supportive ally to anyone in crisis. Our services are client-centered, strengths-based treatment approach, where our goal is to meet our clients where they are and offer interventions that provide the best outcomes. Services include Mental Health Assessments, Drug and Alcohol Assessments, individual, group and family/couple's therapy.

We are a private non-profit organization originally established in October of 1971 to serve our community. TYFS maintains a strong presence even today with a goal of expanding its services through integration and an understanding of our community's needs. It is our pleasure to be a part of the overall health and well-being of those we serve.

Group Substance Abuse Counseling

Substance abuse group counseling is set up to provide its consumers a group intervention in a safe, and confidential environment. The purpose of this group intervention is to focus not only on the abuse and dependence of substances, but to explore the underlying issues so often related to these behaviors. This group is SAPTA approved and facilitated by experienced LADC/CADC's. It is presented with a strengths based model which offers support, empathy and understanding. This group is offered three days a week, Monday at 6:00pm, Tuesday at 10:00am, and Thursday at 4:00pm.

Intensive Outpatient Programing

Tahoe Youth and Family Services is proud to offer an evidenced based SAPTA certified, court approved Intensive Outpatient Program to those in the Douglas and surrounding areas. Our program is open to anyone who wishes to attend, however; the program also fulfills all court ordered obligations and certifications needed to complete your court obligations. Our IOP is provided in a healthy confidential environment with licensed clinical counselors available to you every step of the way. Please contact our offices if you have any questions or would like to join our program.
