We see children ages 3-18 and are here to help you and them navigate life's rough waters. We deal with anxiety, depression, family changes, adjustment issues, behavioral issues, and other childhood mental health concerns. It is our goal to bring help, understanding, and hope to children, adolescents, and families in the Shoals area. We have two counselors at Sweetwater Counseling: Amy Davis and Sydney Walker. We accept BCBS (Amy), Medicaid (Amy & Sydney), and private pay (Amy & Sydney).
Amy Davis, PhD, LPC, is a School Based Registered Play Therapist. Amy knows that children don’t sit and talk like adults do. She believes that play is the language of children and toys and creative materials are their words. She uses age appropriate and creative approaches to bring help, understanding, and hope to children, adolescents and their families.
Sydney Walker, MA, ALC, NCC, under the supervision of Kayliegh Pennington, LPC-S, strives to provide a comprehensive and personalized approach to therapy and utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy and Person-Centered theories and includes play-based techniques, recognizing the power of play in communication and expression for younger individuals.
