The foundation of my work as a therapist is the knowledge that attunement in a therapeutic relationship helps people make lasting positive changes in their lives. We are all entitled to happiness, and to live with meaning and purpose. I work with my clients in partnership as we define personal strengths and rediscover their authentic Self. My clients are people who have struggled with a myriad of challenges. My philosophy is that these challenges do not define who you are. I do not treat depression or anxiety. I work with people who struggle with relational patterns that result in depression and anxiety want to change.
As a contemplative psychotherapist, I work to help my clients find balance by teaching mindfulness practice to aid in emotional regulation which is often the cause of anxiety and depression; deconstructing and integrating trauma; identifying often unconscious patterns which contribute to cyclic suffering; teaching skills to replace harmful coping behavior.
There is often a pull in opposite directions of wanting the suffering to stop and being frozen by fear of making a change. The research on the efficacy of therapy says the most important factor is the client-therapist relationship. Reach out and take a risk, and always follow your instincts. Groups
Parents Embracing Adolescence
This unique group for parents of teenagers focuses on skills and insights to rebuild connection and attunement with your child. Learn methods to gain confidence as parents, by reducing reactivity and increasing mindful presence. This 4 session workshop is meant to be a springboard into self-awareness for parents from a foundation of neuroscience and contemplative psychotherapy. This is a small group, experiential workshop with guided imagery exercises, mindfulness practice, handouts to take home and suggested readings for further exploration. Join with your child as they face the challenges of adolescence. The cost for the entire workshop is $200.
