Anxiety is natural, and affects us at any age. It has been characterized as "My over-estimation of the danger in a situation, and my under-estimation of my ability to handle it." Avoidance is the easiest response, and understandable. It is also the response that gets us in trouble, and keeps us away from many of life's best experiences. Paralyzing panic before a big presentation. Don't start a conversation with that "person of interest" in your Chemistry class. Don't do that important homework for tomorrow, because Youtube is calling for escape. We can end up not living to our values, or our hopes. Freedom is calling.
We can change our relationship with fear, anxiety, and OCD. We can adjust the ways we think that are hindering us, and we can alter our behaviors that are pushing us to avoid. I specialize in Exposure/Response Prevention, EMDR, procrastination treatment, and family dynamics around crippling anxiety and OCD.
I have been working in schools, treatment programs, and private practice for 40 years, from Wisconsin to Alaska to Brazil. I began to specialize and focus my training in anxiety and OCD treatment 8 years ago. It is my passion to help people free themselves from the shackles of fear, and embrace the lives they dream of.
